Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has condemned US President Donald Trump’s renewed push to annex Greenland, calling it “escalating tensions” and disrespectful. Danish Defense Minister  Poulsen accused Trump of making aggressive remarks and undermining Greenland’s autonomy. The visit of a US delegation led by Usha Vance has also faced backlash. 00:00What is your vision for the potential annexation of Greenland and getting the potential?

00:25Well, I think it will happen and I'm just thinking, I didn't give it much thought before,

00:31but I'm sitting with a man that could be very instrumental.

00:34You know, Mark, we need that for international security, not just security, international.

00:39We have a lot of our favorite players, you know, cruising around the coast and we have to be careful.

00:45And we'll be talking to you. It's a very appropriate, really a very appropriate question.

00:50It's an issue in the High North, so the Arctic, so what you did.

00:53So when it comes to Greenland, yes, we're not joining the U.S.

00:56I would leave that outside for me, this discussion, because I don't want to drag NATO in that.

01:01But when it comes to the High North and the Arctic, you are totally right.

01:05The Chinese are now using these routes. We know that the Russians are rearming.

01:09We know we have a lack of icebreakers.

01:12So the fact that the seven, outside Russia, there are seven Arctic countries working together on this,

01:18under U.S. leadership, is very important to make sure that that region, that that part of the world stays safe.

01:23And we know things are changing there and we have to be there.

02:42We need Greenland for international safety and security.

02:56We need it. We have to have it.

02:58And it's an island that from a defensive posture and even offensive posture is something we need,

03:07especially with the world the way it is.

03:09And we're going to have to have it.

03:11And so I hate to put it that way, but we're going to have to have it.

03:15Modern day weapons.

03:17When you look at ships going up their shore by the, you know, by the hundreds, it's a busy, it's a busy, it's a busy place.

03:27And it's really something we have to have.

03:30Do you think the people of Greenland are eager to become American citizens?

03:35I don't know. I don't think they're eager, but I think that we have to do it and we have to convince them.

03:43And we have to have that land because it's not possible to properly defend a large section of this earth.

03:53Not the not just the United States without it.

03:56So we have to have it. And I think we will have it.
