Trump hosted an Iftar dinner at the White House, a gesture aimed at engaging with the American Muslim community. The event comes at a time when US warplanes are actively striking targets in Yemen, raising questions about the administration’s approach to foreign policy and its outreach to Muslim Americans.

00:00as we honor the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
00:03Let me begin by saying to our Muslim friends,
00:06of which I have many tonight,
00:07thank you all very much.
00:08And now we'll have a little dinner.
00:28Thank you very much.
00:30This is sad.
00:41And you'll like it.
00:50Good evening and welcome to this magnificent iftar dinner, very special, as we honor the
00:56Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
00:59Let me begin by saying to our Muslim friends, of which I have many tonight, and I think
01:03we have many all over the world based on the results in Michigan, other places.
01:09But I just want to say hello to all of the people that supported us so strongly, Ramadan
01:16Mubarak.
01:17We're grateful to be joined by Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.
01:27Tulsi, thank you very much.
01:31Deputy Secretary of State, Chris Landau.
01:34Chris, thank you, Chris.
01:38Deputy Special Envoy, Morgan Ortegas.
01:43Hi, Morgan.
01:46A very good friend of mine, who I just endorsed, actually, Senator Lindsey Grimm.
01:55Congressman Abe Hammaday.
01:57Thank you, Abe.
01:59Thank you, Abe.
02:01Good job.
02:02Counselor to the President, Alina Haba.
02:04She's going to be the U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, very important.
02:09Great job.
02:10Pastor Paula White, my friend for a long time, and somebody that's done an incredible
02:15job with faith and all of the things that so many in this room stand for.
02:21Paula White, thank you, Paula.
02:26And a person that Paula would have a hard time not being with.
02:31I would say Jenny would be about impossible for you, right?
02:34But Jenny Corn is here, and she's been incredible, the Faith Office Director.
02:38And right out of the White House, right?
02:40Jenny?
02:41Hi, Jenny.
02:42How are you?
02:44And a great friend of mine, Mossad Buras.
02:47Mossad, how are you?
02:51I also want to extend a very special thanks to the hundreds of thousands of Muslim Americans
02:56who supported us in record numbers in the 2024 presidential election.
03:00It was incredible.
03:02We started a little slow with you, but we came along.
03:06And by the time that election was finished, we figured we went up like a rocket ship.
03:11So I just want to thank everybody very much for that.
03:14That was great.
03:16And in particular, I want to thank two great gentlemen, the Mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan.
03:24Hamtramck, how are you, Mr. Mayor?
03:28And he's done a great job as mayor, and he's done a great job with his support of us.
03:32And Mr. Amir Ghalib, thank you very much.
03:36It was such a tremendous endorsement right at the right time.
03:39Your timing was excellent.
03:41Thank you very much.
03:42And you'll be the next ambassador to Kuwait, and you're going to have a great time with Kuwait.
03:48Wonderful people, and it's a great place.
03:51So congratulations.
03:52Really terrific.
03:53You're going to love them, and they're going to love you.
03:55And they're going to love you.
03:56Thank you very much.
03:57Congratulations to, as well as the Mayor of Dearborn Heights, Mr. Bill Bassett.
04:03Bill, good job, Bill.
04:06And Bill actually is going to be the next ambassador to Tunisia, and that's big stuff.
04:11Those guys, you get very upwardly mobile.
04:14You're doing very well.
04:15That's great.
04:16You're going to have a tremendous time, both great countries, and enjoy it.
04:21Every day we're keeping our promises to the Muslim community.
04:24My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to forge a lasting peace in the Middle East,
04:31building on the historic Abraham Accords, which everybody said would be impossible.
04:35And now we're going to start filling them out because, as you know, Biden did nothing to fill them out.
04:40He did absolutely.
04:41We had the four great countries, and nothing happened, despite the importance of the Abraham Accords.
04:48But I have a feeling it's going to fill out very quickly.
04:50People are talking already about it.
04:53They should have had them long ago.
04:55It should have been done.
04:57We're rapidly defeating inflation by reducing energy costs and even slashing the price of eggs by 50 percent.
05:05Doesn't sound like much.
05:06Believe me.
05:09You know, when I got here, I was in one week, and I was being hit by the fake news media.
05:14They were saying, egg prices have quadrupled.
05:17I said, I just got here.
05:18I didn't even know.
05:19I said, what's the problem with eggs?
05:21But the problem with eggs was Joe Biden.
05:23That was the problem.
05:24He let them get out of control.
05:26And as you probably saw last month, they went down 35 percent.
05:31And the quantity is so much that I don't know.
05:34I think they're going to go down a lot further.
05:36We have a total of over 50 percent in a few weeks, Lindsay.
05:39I'd say that's pretty good.
05:40And nobody wants to talk about it.
05:42Now they don't want to talk about it.
05:43They talked about it when it went up under somebody else.
05:46But when it went down under me, they don't want to talk.
05:48So we have to talk ourselves.
05:50If they won't say it, we have to say it.
05:52Right?
05:53I learned that a long time ago.
05:54We're fighting for parents' rights and school choice.
05:57And we're stopping schools from indoctrinating children with transgender ideologies,
06:03something which the people of this room are not happy about.
06:05I know that for a fact.
06:07And it's a shame what's happened.
06:09But we're turning it around and turning it around at levels that nobody can even believe.
06:14I signed an order also, and I think very importantly also in particular for people in this room.
06:19We're keeping men out of women's sports.
06:21Is that okay?
06:22Men out of women's sports.
06:23The Muslim community was there for us in November.
06:28And while I'm president, I will be there for you.
06:31I'm going to be there for you.
06:32And I think you know that.
06:34And our two great mayors understand that.
06:36I said that I would see you after, and I saw you after.
06:39And I think you're doing better than we are.
06:41You're doing better than anybody.
06:43So it's so great.
06:44I'm so glad you're here.
06:46And as we approach the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan,
06:51we're also deeply honored to be joined by many of the international friends and partners,
06:55including the ambassador from Saudi Arabia to the United States,
06:59a very, very special woman, Princess Rima.
07:03Princess, thank you.
07:05Thank you, Princess.
07:07Say hello to everybody.
07:09It's great to see you.
07:11And as well to the ambassadors and chiefs of mission from the United Arab Emirates,
07:17from Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Brunei, Bahrain, Iraq,
07:25Oman, Morocco, Indonesia, Algeria, Djibouti, Cameroon, Lebanon, Nigeria,
07:35Guinea, Tanzania, Kenya, the Maldives, Libya, Senegal, Bangladesh.
07:43And we have a few others.
07:44I'm sorry I forgot, but I am going to be in big trouble if I did.
07:48But that's a pretty good group of people represented tonight, wouldn't you say, Senator?
07:52I think so.
07:55And we're greatly honored by your presence this evening.
07:58I just really want to thank you all.
08:00It's a special group.
08:01I look forward to it.
08:02You know, we have long days, not like other people that had this position.
08:06I work long hours.
08:08And I said tonight, after making three calls for people running for office,
08:13they call them teletown halls, and they're not easy to do.
08:16And I said, well, now I go home and can relax.
08:21They said, no, you can't, sir.
08:24You're seeing your friends from lots of different places, and that's okay.
08:28As soon as they found out who they were, I said, all right, that's okay.
08:31But Ramadan is a season of spiritual reflection and self-restraint.
08:35Every day during the sacred ninth month of the Islamic calendar,
08:39Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, deepening their focus on prayer and devotion to God.
08:45So nice.
08:46Then Muslims all over the world join family and friends each night and sundown
08:51to give thanks to the Almighty and break their fast with an iftar dinner, just like this one.
08:57This is what we have tonight.
08:58Right, Paul?
08:59I hope you like it.
09:00If you don't like it, don't complain, okay?
09:03You're still in the White House, right?
09:05We're all in the White House together.
09:07So how bad can that be?
09:09So tonight we gather with the goodwill and the gratitude for God's many blessings,
09:13and that's what it's all about.
09:15This tradition exemplifies the beautiful spirit of all three Abrahamic faiths,
09:21the spirit that inspires us to seek happiness and prosperity at home
09:25and peace for the entire world.
09:27We're all looking for peace for the entire world.
09:30When I was in Michigan, I met with so many leaders of faith,
09:33and I said, what about your attitude here, your attitude there,
09:38all of the attitudes and all of the things I heard.
09:41They said, sir, all we want is peace.
09:44Right?
09:45Remember, Mr. Mayor?
09:46I said, but I understand you don't mind death.
09:49They said, no, sir, we want to live.
09:51We want to live, and we want to be happy, and we want to love everybody.
09:55And I actually was a very inspirational period of time for me,
10:00and I want to thank you also for introducing me to so many of your friends.
10:04It was absolutely incredible.
10:05Thank you very much.
10:07To our Muslim friends, I look forward to working with each of you
10:10to achieve a brighter and more hopeful future,
10:13and I think together we're going to do great.
10:15You're going to make strides like you've never made.
10:17You have somebody in the White House that loves you.
10:19Thank you all very much, and now we'll have a little dinner.
10:22Have a little dinner.
10:25Thank you very much.
10:33Don't miss out.
