“A leader, as I’ve always said, is not just my way or highway.” The dada of Indian cricket is now set to captain the Indian cricket board. In this interview last year, Sourav Ganguly shared his views on leadership in the gentleman’s game.

00:00Sometimes, when you're a selector or you're a boss of a BCCI, you're seeing them from

00:05You actually don't see them every minute.

00:07So, I see them how they react to pressure, how they train to succeed.

00:12Sometimes they may not succeed and then you judge with what you have left outside.

00:16You know, when you have exceptional people in your team, you'll have to at times to be

00:21a good leader, just follow the way they want to follow because sometimes they can be better

00:26A leader, as I've always said, is not just my way or highway, it's about adjusting to

00:31the grades you have in the dressing room.

00:33I think the coach has to take a backseat in cricket.

00:36It's not like football.

00:37A lot of the current cricket coaches start to believe that I'm going to run a cricket

00:41team like a football team because they see the Ferguson's, they see the Moreno's, they

00:45see the Zidane's of the world football and they feel that cricket also should be run

00:50that way.

00:51Tell us, what does it take to be a good coach?

00:54Hand management skills at this level.

00:56Everyone thinks they have it, no?

00:59Hardly few have it.
