"My parents live on campus. This is an appeal to anyone who is in Delhi." Actor and activist Swara Bhasker's SOS after masked goons attacked JNU students on 5th January.

00:00Obviously this is very personal for me because my parents live on campus.

00:04This is unappealing to anyone who's in Delhi.

00:30Hi, this is Swara Bhaskar and this is a really urgent SOS sort of appeal.

00:52There is even as we speak right now a terror attack on JNU by goons who are allegedly ABVP and RSS backed goons.

01:02They have covered their faces and there are videos everywhere that show that they are on a rampage inside hostels.

01:08They have attacked teachers, they are attacking students, they are vandalizing the hostels.

01:12The JNU SU President Oishe has been injured very seriously.

01:18Professor Sucharita Sen has also been injured very, very seriously.

01:22She is currently in the hospital.

01:24They are now attacking teachers' houses also.

01:27Obviously this is very personal for me because my parents live on campus.

01:30This is an appeal to anyone who's in Delhi.

01:33This is an appeal that I am forwarding from JNU students who are calling me that please go to the north gate,

01:40to the main gate of JNU in as large numbers as you can.

01:43There is media presence there, there is Delhi police presence there, but Delhi police is not going inside campus.

01:48They are not controlling the situation.

01:50Please as citizens collect in large numbers in front of the main gate and please pressurize the police to act.

01:59I mean to stop this rampage.

02:01This is absolutely crazy.

02:03So this is my appeal.

02:04Please share it as widely as you can.

02:07I think it's around 9 o'clock right now on the 5th of January.

02:13Please share this appeal and if you can just please meet at the main gate which is north gate of JNU campus on Baba Ganga Hathmar.

02:24Please be forewarned there's apparently a Bajrang Dal mob or crowd already outside chanting slogans and so on.

02:31There's media there, there's police there.

02:33This is my urgent appeal to all of you to please reach there as soon as possible.
