The story of this location is such that just by listening to the story, you get scared
00:10
totally.
00:11
There are some paranormal activities happening here and I am the eyewitness of that.
00:25
The biggest problem is that people believe all the information that comes on the internet
00:27
to be true.
00:28
I can't believe I am doing this.
00:37
Today for Brute, I am following paranormal investigator Jailani's risky journey back
00:42
to the infamous mines of Lambi Dehar in Uttarakhand.
00:45
He has investigated hundreds of locations to call out superstitions and explore the
00:48
truth behind urban legends.
00:50
But there's one spot which spooked him out the most.
00:52
Let's do this.
00:54
Guys, let's go.
00:55
Let's go, let's go.
00:56
I am very excited.
00:59
Let's go.
01:10
I was 17 and when I first saw exorcisms being performed live, since then there is a curiosity
01:18
in my mind.
01:19
I have investigated more than 150, 100 or 150 haunted locations.
01:25
I want to know the answers.
01:27
I want to know the realities behind all these superstitions.
01:30
So I am on a journey of finding some answers for myself, to be very honest.
01:41
A few locals told Brute the story of Lambi Dehar, when at least 50,000 workers, who once
01:47
worked in these British era limestone mines, died because of working in extreme conditions
01:52
and with almost no safety precautions.
01:55
Their lungs went bad, they would cough up blood and eventually die a painful death,
01:59
one worker at a time.
02:01
These mines lay deserted since then.
02:03
Brute found no evidence of this in history books.
02:12
Can you tell us a little more about what your experience was last time when you were here?
02:18
So first of all, I entered the administrative block in the evening.
02:22
The first thing I noticed was the dead bodies of two crows.
02:27
It is very common for birds to die at that place.
02:30
So I didn't pay much attention to it and then I went straight to the administrative block.
02:37
After taking a tour of the whole administrative block, when I returned, the dead bodies of
02:40
both the crows were not there.
02:42
At the same time, there were two crows sitting alive on a wall.
02:47
Then at night, when I was investigating the whole area inside the mines,
02:52
around 11.30 or 12 o'clock, I decided to go inside the mines.
02:58
I spent a lot of time there, around 1, 1.30 or 2 o'clock.
03:02
I felt like there was someone else there besides me.
03:07
I felt like there was someone there who was watching me.
03:11
The feeling of being watched.
03:13
I didn't have enough batteries that I could carry with me.
03:17
I had very limited things.
03:20
So I had to save the batteries.
03:22
That's why I was switching off the lights again and again.
03:26
When I switched off the small light and switched on the big light for the first time,
03:36
I felt like I had seen a shadow for the first time in my life.
03:41
This was the first time when I was witnessing something like that.
03:45
Maybe because my brain wanted something like that to happen,
03:50
maybe there could be some other reason or maybe there could be some other shadow.
03:54
However, this whole episode did not last more than a few seconds.
03:57
When I saw that shadow or something like a shadow, in an abstract shape in the air,
04:02
I got scared and my light fell off my hand.
04:05
After that, I picked up the light again and tried to see it again.
04:10
But I didn't find anything there.
04:15
He decided to go back there in search of answers and to confront his demons.
04:26
Al-Lamithar Mines is full of negative energies.
04:29
There are some paranormal activities happening here.
04:34
I am the eyewitness of that.
04:37
I didn't believe in these things at any time.
04:41
But when I slowly came here and observed,
04:46
then I tried to investigate from other people as well.
04:51
Then I saw many truths.
05:07
It is said that there is a shadow of a witch here.
05:10
Is it true? Do you know anything about it?
05:12
Yes, it is on this route.
05:14
But I haven't seen this thing for a long time.
05:16
Earlier, if any driver was going from here,
05:20
then they used to take a lift and go.
05:23
But I don't know how far it is going.
05:25
This is the reality.
05:26
Will you come with me as I say now?
05:29
It's time now. It's evening time.
05:33
Absolutely.
05:37
Behind me is the office block of the Lambi Dehar Mines.
05:47
The mines are located 5 km away from a rocky trail
05:50
that bends right behind this building.
05:53
The area is full of wild animals and birds
05:55
and it takes about an hour's trek to get to the actual mines.
05:59
It's 6.30 pm.
06:01
As the night falls,
06:03
we will stay here for a while
06:05
and then we will start walking towards the mining area.
06:19
It is 9.30 pm now
06:21
and after a quick recce,
06:23
Jai and his team will head towards the mines.
06:28
They will trek towards the mountains
06:29
where the actual mines are located.
06:34
So, you're all set? Everybody's ready?
06:38
Good.
06:39
Let's do this.
06:41
Guys, let's go.
06:42
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
06:43
I'm very excited.
06:44
Let's go.
06:45
Ah!
06:54
And now we are moving towards the centre
06:59
from where the story of this haunting began.
07:04
We are going towards the core of the mining
07:08
from where this mining started.
07:12
And the mining went on for about 40 years.
07:17
People say that the 50,000 workers who died,
07:21
they died over a course of time.
07:23
Some people say that there was a furnace blast which happened
07:29
and they died over the night.
07:35
The numbers of deaths,
07:39
that is also very controversial at the same time.
07:41
Some people say that even a few hundred people died
07:44
and the story of that has been exaggerated.
07:52
We have just started moving towards the mines
07:55
and I'm already feeling,
07:59
how do you call it?
08:00
Nostalgia?
08:02
How do you call it?
08:03
Nostalgia plus I'm nervous.
08:05
Yes, I admit I'm nervous
08:09
because I'm going back to the same place again
08:13
where whatever happened, happened.
08:16
And that too I'm not very fit this time.
08:22
I don't know.
08:25
I can't believe I'm doing this with a broken leg.
08:28
If I'm going to show these footages to my doctor,
08:30
he's going to kill me.
08:35
Jai decided to set up camp inside the mines.
08:38
He's going to spend a night here
08:39
to try to capture any signs and indications of paranormal activities
08:42
that are so widely reported by the locals.
08:50
This time I want to capture any kind of imagery if possible.
08:55
So I'm setting up my night visions.
08:56
Let's see.
09:01
There's no wind.
09:12
We're walking on what's known as an open pit mine.
09:15
Unlike other rocks and minerals that are found underground,
09:18
limestone is mined from open quarries
09:20
as it's often found at or close to the earth's surface.
09:24
I understand totally that we are not using some sci-fi gadgets
09:29
and tools and equipments this time.
09:33
But if not electronic equipment,
09:37
why not just let's try for something which is ancient.
09:54
What are you trying to do exactly Jai? What is this?
09:57
So this is a very ancient technique.
10:00
This is called dowsing.
10:02
So dowsing rods have been used in our history since long.
10:07
In the beginning, dowsing was done to find treasures or water hidden underground.
10:15
So a lot of videos I've seen, a lot of people I've seen,
10:18
a lot of parapsychologists I've seen
10:20
who have claimed that these simple rods which you are looking at in my hands,
10:26
these work.
10:29
People say if these dowsings start moving on their own,
10:33
like this is happening right now,
10:36
which means there is some kind of negative presence in front of you.
10:40
But as a matter of fact,
10:43
more of experience and gut feelings to be very honest,
10:47
so far we haven't found anything which is considered to be haunted.
10:58
It's almost 12 am right now.
11:00
It's been two hours since Jai and his team began the journey into the mines.
11:07
So right now, we are trying to look at different locations in this spot
11:14
to see what all is there.
11:18
Because a lot of people have complained of a haunting,
11:21
especially on this road.
11:24
Because according to a lot of stories and people,
11:27
the road we are walking on right now,
11:29
there used to be graves here.
11:32
So there was a furnace up there,
11:34
and when there was a blast in the furnace,
11:36
after the blast,
11:38
some corpses,
11:40
some labourers who were there,
11:42
fell straight here.
11:45
And since then,
11:47
over the course of time,
11:49
all the deaths that have taken place here,
11:51
in all these deaths,
11:53
this whole area,
11:55
people say this whole area is like a big graveyard.
12:08
What do you think that is?
12:10
It's a mountain bird.
12:14
At such locations,
12:16
sometimes you hear sounds
12:18
that you can't imagine.
12:20
Because we don't know the sounds
12:22
of a lot of animals.
12:24
Horses, elephants, dogs, cats,
12:26
we all hear them.
12:28
But there are a lot of animals
12:30
that we don't know about.
12:32
So a lot of times,
12:34
there are some unexplained sounds
12:36
that play with your mind.
12:38
Then you start relating those sounds
12:40
to those stories
12:42
that people have told you
12:44
before coming here.
12:46
And then you go into
12:48
a different state of mind,
12:50
and then a lot of problems happen.
12:58
You were very nervous when you were coming here.
13:00
I am heavily disappointed to be honest.
13:02
I am heavily disappointed to be honest.
13:04
Because I was planning
13:06
to come here for a long time.
13:08
And I was thinking that
13:10
I don't know what will happen
13:12
to me this time.
13:14
Will it all happen again?
13:16
I had 50 different things
13:18
in my mind.
13:20
I was a little scared,
13:22
a little excited.
13:24
I was not fit for this,
13:26
but still I decided to do it.
13:28
Because I was really excited about this.
13:30
Ghosts.
13:32
No signs of being haunted.
13:34
And no signs of paranormal activities.
13:42
Jayalani's quest to solve the mysteries of Lambidihar
13:44
and relive his own past experiences
13:46
ended with no significant results.
13:48
He was both relieved
13:50
and disappointed for not being able to find
13:52
anything that could corroborate
13:54
stories of the locals.
14:00
I get a lot of calls
14:02
from people
14:04
who give me a call
14:06
and they say that
14:08
someone of their own has passed away
14:10
and they want me to talk to him.
14:12
And I say no,
14:14
I can't.
14:16
Then the person doubts on me
14:18
of being a paranormal investigator.
14:20
There is a huge difference
14:22
between ghost stories and reality
14:24
compared to a person's mind and eyes.
14:26
The mind can imagine stories
14:28
but the eyes can't.
14:30
The biggest problem is that people
14:32
believe all the information on the internet to be true.
14:34
And the way in India
14:36
you have seen a surge
14:38
in horror content on the internet.
14:40
There are 50 YouTube vloggers
14:42
who are doing horror vlogging
14:44
in different locations.
14:46
Today we are enjoying this.
14:48
We are enjoying this particular content
14:50
on our mobile and other
14:52
internet-based devices
14:54
in our own room, maybe in our own space.
14:56
But after 20 years,
14:58
after 10 years,
15:00
the impact it will have on society
15:02
will be exactly the same as
15:04
the impact of superstition 100 years ago on us today.
15:26
Thanks for watching.
