Here's a look at the first human trial of a coronavirus vaccine.

00:00Everybody's feeling so helpless right now and I realized that there was something that

00:22I could do to help and I'm excited to be here.

00:30These are people who are volunteering to be in a trial for a vaccine that's never

00:47been given to humans before and so we take all the precautions we can take but there's

00:52some inherent risk there because we can't know what we haven't evaluated yet.

00:58So yes, I think most of them or all of them are acting out of a sense of public good and

01:04wanting to help in this process.

01:16There's no chance of getting coronavirus from the vaccine.

01:18The vaccine is not made from the virus.

01:21It does not have any part of the virus.

01:23It includes a genetic code that instructs the cells in the body to make a protein that

01:29the virus has in order to induce an immune response against that protein which would

01:35hopefully allow an immune response to be developed more quickly should a person later become

01:40infected with the actual virus.
