00:42Filipino tennis ace Alex Ayala extends her dream run in the Miami Open after a huge 6-2,
00:487-5 upset against five-time major titleist Igas Viatek to advance to the semifinals.
00:54The 19-year-old wildcard did not succumb to the pressure, facing the World No. 2 Viatek
00:59and embraced the opportunity to beat her idol.
01:02After failing to hold serve in the opening game, Ayala won six of the next seven, breaking
01:07Viatek four times to get the first set.
01:10She then continued to dominate by racing to a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Viatek refused
01:16to back down without a fight.
01:18However, Ayala maintained her poise, tied the game at 4-4, then 5-5, before she broke
01:24Viatek for the eighth and last time to clinch the improbable win.
01:28My coach told me to run, to go for every ball, take all the opportunities I can because five-time
01:35Grand Slam champion is not going to give you the win.
01:40It's forever in my heart.
01:42The incredible run made Ayala the first Filipino tennis player to reach the semifinals of a
01:47Women's Tennis Association 1000 event.
01:50She also cracked the top 100 of WTA for the first time and is poised to claim her biggest
01:54purse yet as she is guaranteed at least P332,160 or over P19 million.
02:02From being ranked 140 in the world, Ayala climbed to No. 75 in the live rankings and
02:07will likely gain direct entry to three other Grand Slam events of the year.
02:13Economists say the planned Zero Remittance Week among overseas Filipino workers from
02:17March 28 to April 4 will hit their families in the Philippines the hardest.
02:21This, after some OFWs urged fellow Filipinos abroad to protest the international criminal
02:27court arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte for his bloody drug war.
02:31Bank of the Philippine Islands' lead economist Jun Neri says the protest could impact the
02:35country's economic growth due to its effects on household spending.
02:40Neri believes this will widen the Philippines' negative current accounts position, government
02:44reserves, and interest rates.
02:46A country's current account covers trade in goods, services, primary income, which
02:51includes OFW remittances, and secondary income.
02:55OFW families are expected to be the most affected since they have to cut corners in their daily
03:00expenses if interest and foreign exchange rates rise.
03:03Meantime, IBAN Foundation Executive Director Sonny Afrika believes the proposed ban is
03:08all bluster and optics, saying unsent remittances will eventually be sent.
03:15Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan denies speculation his camp is in talks with President Ferdinand
03:20Marcos Jr.'s Alianza para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
03:23This amid reports that the president is considering his inclusion in the administration's slate.
03:28During his proclamation rally in February, Pangilinan said he was willing to set aside
03:32politics and work with Marcos to lower the price of rice, a campaign promise from Marcos
03:37that remains unfulfilled since he assumed office in 2022.
03:41Pangilinan reiterates he remains an independent candidate while welcoming broad-based support
03:46for his advocacies.
03:47He says, quote,
03:48"...there have been no discussions between my camp and Alianza para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
03:53Our campaign remains independent and focused on our core advocacy, fighting high food prices
03:57and ensuring food security for every Filipino family."
04:01Talks about Alianza adopting a new candidate come after the president's sister and re-electionist
04:06Senator Aimee Marcos exited the slate.
04:09Pangilinan is running alongside former Senator Bamakino, who also emphasizes he is running
04:14as an independent candidate.

04:43Yemen two hours before a military operation that was supposed to remain a secret, this
04:48according to screenshots of a chat released by The Atlantic.
04:51The revelation that sensitive attack plans were shared on a messaging app caused outrage
04:55in Washington.
04:56Democrats are calling for the firing of Trump's national security members over the leaks.
05:01Hegseth has denied texting war plans, and Trump and his advisers say no classified information
05:05was shared.
05:06Republican Senator Roger Wicker, who heads the Pentagon's Oversight Committee in the
05:10Senate, joined calls for an independent probe and said the text seemed so sensitive,
05:14quote,
05:15"...I would have wanted it classified."
05:17The White House downplays the idea of Hegseth or others losing their jobs, saying Trump
05:22still has confidence in them.
05:23Trump says, quote,
05:24"...Hegseth is doing a great job."
05:28Cebuana skateboarder and Olympian Marjolaine Dedal will now be a playable character in
05:32Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series in its upcoming game remake, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 plus

05:39The game series' official social media pages release a behind-the-scenes video featuring
05:43Dedal and her professional skateboarding skills.
05:46Dedal says,
05:47"...I'm excited to be in the game and other people to use me in the Tony Hawk game."
05:51The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series has been around since 1999, with skateboard star Tony
05:56Hawk as the face of the game.
05:58The game challenges players to score as high as possible by performing tricks like ollies,
06:03flips, and aerials.
06:05Dedal also gives some advice to aspiring young skateboarders.
