00:00City of Troy was the European champion two-year-old, three-year-old and Cartier Horse of the Year.
00:08The best son of Coolmore America's top stallion, Justify, City of Troy has now taken up stud
00:13duties at Coolmore, Ireland, where he is being warmly received by domestic and international
00:18breeders alike.
00:19When City of Troy has arrived, when they start covering mares, you see that they change.
00:26He's become from boys to men and he's let down into a magnificent horse.
00:31He's loads of size, scope and strength and you can see he's just going to get bigger
00:34and stronger as each day goes on.
00:37Physically, he's full of quality, really good looking horse, great colour, he's an extremely
00:42good mover.
00:43Famously, the day he won up the Curragh, I think Ryan Moore goes on record as saying
00:49it was the only day he got a fright ever off a horse because he won, he was a TDN Rising
00:53Star and he couldn't be pulled up, he nearly went onto the motorway.
00:57He took Ryan every bit of strength he had to pull him up, it was incredible.
01:01And then he went to Newmarket and there was rumblings that the horse was a very good two-year-old
01:05but what he did that day, just quick and clear and they didn't see which way they went.
01:10There was a lot of debate the morning of the Dew Horse whether he'd run or not because
01:13it turned up soft, but thankfully they went and they ran the horse, the partners agreed
01:18to run him and that was the crowning of him as a champion two-year-old.
01:21So it's such an important thing as well in a stallion's career.
01:25He went on to win the Coral Eclipse and my time of going racing, I think that day in
01:31Juddmonte, Juddmonte International was something very special.
01:34There was six, seven, eight people deep all the way around the ring and there was a real
01:38air of excitement to go and win the race the way he did and then the year he's lowered
01:42the track record by a seat of stars so it was just something very, very special that
01:47day and he cemented his place as the world's best two-year-old.
01:51The massive engine definitely is Justify, the relentless speed and galloping that he
02:03had.
02:04I'd say that was all down to Justify, but no doubt the precocity and class of his mother
02:08who's by Galileo and she was, as I said, a group one winning two-year-old, I think that's
02:12the perfect blend that he's come to fruition with.
02:16City of Troy has been extremely well supported from the world over.
02:19There's mares coming over from America to go to him, you can see there's Japanese mares
02:23booked into him or Japanese owned mares booked into him, as I mentioned already, like Aga
02:27Cane, Juddmonte, Shadwell, it's a kind of who's who of breeding throughout the world.
02:32Got the dam of Oxhead in foal, he's got Tally Ho's Sageley in foal, he's got I'd say close
02:39to 40 mares in foal at this stage and we're only in the start of March so he's extremely
02:44fertile which is a great sign.
02:47City of Troy could possibly get you anything, like looking at his father, he could get you
02:51an unbelievable two-year-old in Australia, he can get you a middle distance horse in
02:55Europe, he's another horse on the derby trail this year again, so I'd imagine in the mould
03:00of his father he'll get you anything.
03:02I think he's just so much class, the motto is trying to stand the champions or the best
03:07stallions that we can and hopefully he could be the next Wooten Basset or Galileo, he's
03:12the profile to be, as I said, a champion two-year-old and went on to be a world champion
03:17three-year-old and the support he's got justifies his race record and his pedigree so it's just
03:23up to him now to capitalise it but you'd have to have a good bet on him that you think he
03:27is going to make ends meet for himself as a leading stallion.
