Florida lawmakers just passed legislation that would allow more teachers to arm themselves at school. But these teachers have a pretty good idea of what they want to be armed with in their classrooms — and it isn't guns.

00:00My kid's right to survive a day at school outweighs your right to own any kind of gun you want.
00:07It's plain and simple.
00:22I want you to arm me with resources to provide mental health services for students,
00:27wraparound services for families, funding to build bridges with communities.
00:48It's called concealed carry,
00:51where a teacher would have a concealed gun on them. I've been a teacher for six years.
00:56And I decided to join the arm me with movement
01:00because I will never, ever,
01:03bring a gun into my classroom.
01:13As a teacher, it's my job to make my students feel safe and foster an environment of learning and love.
01:18And they would not feel safe and supported and secure if their teacher is walking in the door every single day with a gun on her hip.
01:26Our children deserve better than an environment that looks more like a prison than a classroom.
01:32Schools are a safe zone.
01:34Schools should be a place where children feel loved and
01:39protected.
01:41They shouldn't feel anxious. They shouldn't feel on edge. And they shouldn't be wondering when their turn will be
01:49next.
01:55Let's actually make a change.
02:07Common Sense Gun Laws and funding to support those with social,
02:11emotional, and mental health needs is a must. One thing I am calling for are for my lawmakers to
02:18care for my students more than they do a civilian's right to own an assault rifle. I don't want a gun.
02:24I don't need a gun.
02:27I need more, and I'm asking you to help me get it.
