00:37You are jihadist.

00:40We know what you are.

00:42You are effing traitor

00:44and you will not live any longer.

00:47When a sitting member of Congress

00:49calls a colleague member of the jihad squad

00:53and falsifies a story to suggest

00:58that I will blow up the capital.

01:01It is not just attack on me

01:04but on millions of American Muslims

01:07across this country.

01:09We of course know

01:11that this isn't the first incident.

01:14In May,

01:16she said my colleagues and I

01:18are politicians

01:20with suicide belts

01:22strapped to their bodies.

01:24She asked

01:26if Congresswomen and I

01:28should register

01:30as foreign agents

01:32invoking a hateful

01:34dual loyalty trope.

01:38And today we learned

01:40that she had

01:42fabricated a similar story

01:44about riding an elevator with me

01:47calling me and Rashida

01:49evil and dark hearted.

01:51I wish I could say

01:53the Congresswoman was an outlier

01:55but I cannot.

02:03Condemning this

02:05should not be a partisan issue.

02:09This is about our basic humanity

02:12and fundamental rights

02:14of religious freedom

02:15enshrined in our constitution.

02:18Yet while some members

02:20of the Republican Party

02:21have condemned this,

02:23to date,

02:24the Republican Party leadership

02:26has done nothing

02:28to hold their members accountable.

02:31We cannot pretend

02:32that this hate speech

02:34from leading politicians

02:36doesn't have real consequences.

02:38The truth is

02:40that anti-Muslim hate

02:42is on the rise

02:43both here at home

02:44and around the world.

02:46I myself have reported

02:48hundreds of threats

02:50on my life

02:51often triggered

02:52by Republican attacks

02:54on my faith.

02:56And this week,

02:58once again,

03:00we saw another increase.

03:02It is time for the Republican Party

03:04to actually do something

03:06to confront

03:08anti-Muslim hatred

03:10in its ranks

03:11and hold

03:12those who perpetuate it

03:14accountable.
