00:00I get that I'm the young guy in the conversation, but I would say experience is what qualifies me to have a seat at this table.

00:14My father immigrated to this country because he knew it was the best place in the world to get an advanced education.

00:21He became an American citizen and met my mother, a young professor who is the daughter of an army colonel and a piano teacher.

00:31After graduating from school, I went to the university to study music.

00:38I knew I would be an excellent piano teacher.

00:43I was a guitar player for a short period of time and one day I realized I was a good teacher.

00:49I had a lot of fun, a lot of fun.

00:52I think my father would say that you should always be a professional piano teacher.

00:58That's why I'm running for Indiana State Treasurer, but it's not about me, it's about you.

01:26When I took office, we were being dismissed as a dying community.

01:30The important thing that I think people need to know about South Bend's story is that we

01:34didn't change our trajectory because I went around saying things like, I alone can fix

01:39it or we're going to make our city great again.

01:49I also wanted to take this opportunity just to thank South Bend and everybody there for

01:54being so supportive.

01:56I hope it gets people thinking and I hope everybody realizes that the sun came up today,

02:04I'm the exact same person I was yesterday.

02:08This is a chance for the DNC to show that it's ready for a fresh start, that it's ready

02:12for change.

02:39I am a proud son of South Bend, Indiana.

02:42And I am running for President of the United States.

02:57We can start with Medicare for all who want it by making some version of Medicare available

03:02on the exchanges for people to opt into as part of the pathway to Medicare for all.

03:13I was a little surprised that I'm the only one who's been on Fox so far, because there

03:16are so many viewers who may never hear what our party has to say at all if we're never

03:21going on those channels and explaining what we believe.

03:30So next time a reporter asked me if America is ready for a gay president, I'm going to

03:35tell the truth.

03:36I'm going to give him the only answer that I can think of that's honest, and it's this.

03:42I trust my fellow Americans, but at the end of the day, there's exactly one way to find

03:47out for sure.
