00:30This is a common sense, bipartisan reform, a part of the failed war on drugs.

00:56We're both trying to get back to work in Washington, D.C.

01:03One was to make sure that we could get to work.

01:05But the other reason was for a Democrat and a Republican to get together, get to know

01:11each other and see if we couldn't find some common ground.

01:23Multiple non-violent protests, including taking a knee at a football game to point

01:28out that black men unarmed, black teenagers unarmed and black children unarmed are being

01:36killed at a frightening level right now.

01:39Either we're a country that takes kids from their parents or we are a country that lives

01:44up to our best traditions.

01:46This is in direct response to our constituents, the people we represent, who are sick and

01:51tired of this Congress's inability to move forward, even on common sense, bipartisan,

01:58widely supported measures like universal background checks.

02:04You've helped us raise $1,274,000 in just over a little more than 50 hours, with the

02:18average contribution being $32.

02:30I think Congressman O'Rourke is out of step with Texas on that.

02:33Only one of us has been to each county in Texas and would have an idea of what Texas

02:38values and interests are.

02:41We are not running against anyone.

02:43We're not running against anything.

02:45We're not running against another political party.

02:47We are running for this country, by and for each and every single one of us.
