Hip-hop has allowed Kid Cudi to cope with his depression and his songs have changed — and even "saved" — the lives of people like Travis Scott, Logic, and Pete Davidson.

00:06and stop kids from committing suicide.

00:19or I'm going to do some drugs.

00:48Music is a platform for me to express myself

00:51and also realize that I'm not that crazy,

00:55that there's other kids out there that might be depressed

00:57or lonely dealing with suicide.

01:28I didn't like that I had money and success

01:33and I had made it,

01:35and everybody I had ever met in my life,

01:38good people, were able to experience the same.

01:46With any addiction, you have to be ready to make the choice.

01:50Whether it's cigarettes or anything,

01:52you have to just commit, and you just have to stick with it.

02:02if I didn't have Kid Cudi.

02:06I truly believe that Kid Cudi saved your life.

02:17He saved me from doing random bad things to myself.

02:43and I hope he's doing well.

02:49When I started making a song like Day or Night,

02:52I was 23 years old, living in New York,

02:55still trying to figure it out.

02:57I just wanted to make music that was true to me,

03:00and I just wanted people to take whatever inspiration

03:03they got from it and apply it into their worlds and grow,

03:06and I wanted people to see me grow as an adult

03:09through the music.
