In an effort to reduce police brutality, the MrCheckpoint app maps where cops hide out for checkpoints — and lets users report if officers are abusing their power.

00:51I said I'm not required by law to do a field sobriety test.

01:12What I always say is AFTP always film the police.

01:15In those instances where someone's life is taken unjustly

01:19or someone is beaten up for nothing,

01:21that video could potentially save their life.

01:49Literally every day someone reaches out to me and says,

01:53You know, I ask them if they have footage, if they have proof,

01:56if they have a recording, and I would say 99% of the time they do not.

02:01And if it's your word against the officers, sadly, we know how that plays out.

02:31The relationship between the victims of police brutality

02:34and the police departments themselves is just really a narrow street.

02:38And the idea with this app is to make it 100% public, searchable,

02:43and allow people to have access to this 24-7, anytime, all the time.

03:02We have something like Yelp.

03:03When there's great service at the food spot, everyone knows it, right?

03:06We should know that about those particular officers.

03:10And additionally, when an officer has been found to have killed someone unarmed,

03:15I believe, again, the public should know.
