00:19Meet the Senate's latest cure against its spread.

00:21Earlier today, the Senate unveiled its latest countermeasure to protect itself from the

00:25ravages of fake news.

00:27An official and dedicated channel in the messaging and chat application, Viber.

00:32Senate President Francis Escudero hailed this latest development, which he says will

00:36serve as a shield against misinformation and fake news in the Senate's quest to provide

00:41the public accurate and timely updates and developments within the chamber.

00:46The new Viber channel was announced in the Senate's official Facebook page, which also

00:50coaxes the public to check out the other pages under its Facebook account to include links

00:55to Instagram and TikTok accounts.

00:57Escudero likened misinformation to an epidemic that spreads like wildfire in cyberspace all

01:03the way to the real world.

01:04Thus, it is incumbent among all government institutions to provide the people with access

01:10to reliable and accurate information about the institutions of government so the public

01:14can respond with informed decisions and at the same time, empower themselves.

01:21Don't look now, but President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. may be meeting with the most powerful

01:26man on the planet and leader of the free world this year.

01:30Since late last year, after the 45th US President won the November presidential elections, President

01:35Marcos Jr. had hinted on a possible up-close encounter with then-President-elect Donald

01:40Trump in Washington, D.C.

01:43What's more, such encounter could happen in the first half of the year, as per Philippine

01:47envoy to Washington, D.C., Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez, who in a radio show interview

01:53yesterday said there is a good chance of the leaders meeting at the White House after the

01:58visits of Pentagon Chief and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth next week and Secretary of State

02:04Marco Rubio thereafter.

02:06Then again, it has been the President's wish to hold bilateral talks with U.S. President

02:10Donald Trump to hash over key issues like continued U.S. military support in the region

02:16and on immigration, which the President would try to hopefully work out a slight shift in

02:22immigration policy for undocumented Filipinos bound for deportation.
