Over 1,000 residents were told to evacuate their homes in southwestern Japan as a wildfire continued to rage on Tuesday (March 25), while firefighters battled to tame the blaze.

00:14The fire, which started on Sunday in the city of Imabari in Ehime Prefecture, is estimated

00:30A separate wildfire that also started on Sunday in Okayama Prefecture in southwestern Japan
00:36destroyed 250 hectares of land and damaged six buildings, but stopped spreading the following
00:42morning.
00:44Firefighters and Japan's Self-Defense Force helicopters were working to extinguish the
00:48fire in Okayama on Tuesday.
