00:26He wasn't going to stand for mediocrity.

00:29The reputation of the restaurant and the fame and fortune would all become bound up

00:33in his identity.

00:34Towards the end, it was to the point, like, Charlie, why?

00:38You can't do the same thing forever.

00:40You might go completely insane.

00:43So many people don't know Charlie.

00:45They know this persona.

00:50He was the first American kid to be really fearless, to invent new things.

00:55He had to express himself or he would have exploded.

00:59He would write to me that people thought he was a total enigma.

01:01He often felt very isolated and very alone and, like, nobody understood.

01:10Charlie was really a control freak.

01:13He was known as a tyrant.

01:15He was the puppeteer.

01:16He figured out a way to get what he wanted from all of us.

01:22You're really getting on my nerves at this point, sir.

01:25He was being questioned like he had never been questioned before.

01:29Why couldn't he re-imagine his food and why couldn't he re-imagine himself?

01:34Nobody appreciates legacy and if you're not on top in that moment, you just don't matter.

01:40Being Charlie Trotter, that was almost a sentence in some ways.

01:44I don't know if Charlie really knew how many people that he impacted.

01:47He is definitely a legend.
