Drinking Culture for Younger Generations

Why do you think young people don’t go out drinking as much?

00:00I think the alcohol usage has gone through the roof,

00:03especially with the older age groups,

00:05where the younger age group is concerned,

00:08they're just going to do what they see the elders doing.

00:10If you see your mum and dad do it,

00:13or you see your brother and sisters do it,

00:14you're going to do it as well.

00:15And the fact that it is concerning is that

00:18children are starting younger now,

00:19and parents are letting them get away with it.

00:22I think young people, sometimes there's half and half.

00:25I think some of them are more health conscious now,

00:27with their smoothies and their fitness and all the rest of it.

00:29They want a healthier lifestyle.

00:31And maybe the other half, or some a portion of,

00:34takes drugs instead of drinking, unfortunately.

00:36I think drinking is still going to be a big social thing.

00:39People are aware of the dangers that alcohol can bring.

00:43It's being pushed more in schools,

00:45because I know a lot of other schools,

00:46but I've definitely had a few lessons on

00:49the effects of alcohol and what underage drinking can do,

00:53because it can affect your mind's growth,

00:56and it's not good for your young ages.
