00:00Hello, I'm Brian Benitez-McClellan and I'm at the Miranilla Heritage House.

00:13One of the most interesting stories and the namesake of how Miranilla got its name was

00:19from a story back when the Ateneo de Manila actually burnt down and my great aunt, Helena

00:29Benitez, apparently when she was a child, was up in the tower and was calling out to

00:35the family, Mira a Manila, Mira a Manila, because she saw the smoke of Manila.

00:43And being one of the highest locations in this area around Green Hills, you can see

00:51down to Manila, so the name Mira a Manila or Miranilla is what stuck from that story.

00:59So that's how the house has become known as the Miranilla House.

01:04So dito sa Miranilla, one of the first things you see when you enter the property is yung

01:10bahay and in here we have a collection of many artworks and paintings and sculptures

01:18from various national artists and other Filipino artists and international collections.

01:25Also the library houses many thousands of books and original furniture and different

01:33artifacts from the family's collections over the years.

01:43Within the compound, the greenery, the trees, they serve as a natural way to keep the air

01:50cooler and cleaner and maganda rin to see the flowers and native species that we have

01:59in the garden.
