Ukrainians want war to end but no confidence in Trump

Dr Olga Oleinikova says Ukrainians – especially those on the front lines – say they want a long-term resolution to Russia's invasion and the subsequent war.

00:00In general, the feeling of the people who I talk to, they really want some conclusion

00:09They really want this whole war to finish.

00:13I feel families are really exhausted by sending the guys and their family members to the war.

00:21But again, they don't feel optimistic that Trump can sort it out as quick as he promised.

00:26I actually talked today in the morning with my friend who is on the front line.

00:30He's now in Kharkiv, and he's been in the war on the front line since the war started.

00:37And I asked him, oh, how do you feel about what's happening now?

00:40There's a lot of media attention again now back to Ukraine.

00:43And he said, oh, the 30 days ceasefire wouldn't do much.

00:48We want long term.

00:49They feel he was not very optimistic.

00:52He didn't sound very hopeful, to be honest.

00:55But I think we need to be optimistic.

00:56We need to find a solution to end this, because I feel people are really exhausted.
