Parental Love Song: Eleanor sings "My Mother", a lullaby about a mother's love, to the baby penguin that she smuggled aboard the Chipettes' hot-air balloon.
Photo Montage: Briefly seen in "Off to See the World" with the girls taking photos of themselves in the different places they visit.
Pink Girl, Blue Boy: The two hot air balloons are color-coded like this.
Police Are Useless: No airport security is summoned when a hot air balloon crashes onto the runway, or when the Chipmunks, Chipettes, and the Furchsteins emerge from the baggage belt. + Subverted with Inspector Jamal, who works tirelessly from the beginning to ruin the Furchsteins' scheme and who ultimately nabs the two kidnappers with an entire police force in tow.
Prestige Peril: Theodore is named the Prince of Plenty by a native tribe during the Chipmunks' balloon trip around the world. Simon finds out shortly thereafter that the Prince of Plenty is sacrificed at the full moon.
Pretty in Mink: The girls wear fur-trimmed capes over their belly dancer outfits when they visit Antarctica.
Product Placement: Rare for an animated film, but Alvin is clearly eating from a box of Honey-Nut Cheerios in the scene where he and Theodore use the tape recorder to trick Miss Miller. This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.According to longtime associate Thomas Watkins, this was due to Bagdasarian Productions having a cross-promotional deal with General Mills, specifically Honey-Nut Cheerios at the time of the film's production and near-release.
Quote Mine: In order to cover up their absence to Miss Miller, Alvin records Dave during a phone call, and then quote mines Dave's part of the conversation to convince Miss Miller (via another phone call) that Dave wants the kids to join him on his business trip. Hilarity Ensues when Theodore messes up the tape recording, prompting Miss Miller to question Dave's sobriety.
Reasonable Authority Figure: Jamal turns out to be one, helping Dave to get both the Chipmunks and the Chipettes back and expresses his gratitude for them helping him to finally put Klaus and Claudia away for good.
Recorded Spliced Conversation: Alvin calls Dave in Paris and records him, then edits the recording to make a fake call giving the Chipmunks permission to leave home under the pretense that they're joining Dave in Europe.
Ridiculously Cute Critter: The baby penguin is adorable.
Riding into the Sunset: The ending, with all six kids in the back of Miss Miller's car, and Alvin lamenting that he never got the prize money, or even a reward for catching Klaus and Claudia. Brittany comments that THEY were the ones who won the race, and an argument ensues, much to Dave's chagrin.
Royal Harem: A young human prince falls in love with Brittany and tries to get her to join his family's royal harem, so the three Chipettes have to get out of there. It certainly explains their belly dancer outfits.

04:38Don't do it, Jeanette! When it comes to food, Eleanor, you're awfully selfish.
04:50A penguin? You are going to eat this penguin?
04:55Don't be ridiculous, Brittany. We've got to get this little guy back to Antarctica.
05:02He'll die if we don't. And how do you propose we do that, Eleanor? Federal Express?
05:10No. I thought we could take him. And lose the race? Jeanette, will you please talk some sense into your sister?
05:19She's right, Brittany. You're both crazy!
05:23I'm sorry, but we're talking about a hundred thousand dollars and... well, uh...
05:32He doesn't look very good, Eleanor. I told you.
05:37Well, how do we get to Antarctica?
05:46Just one little bite for Auntie Eleanor.
05:53He's getting worse. What can we do?
05:57He needs his mama, Brittany. She'll know what to do.
06:01It's hard to remember, summer or winter, when she hasn't been there for me.
06:23A friend and companion, I can always depend on my mother.
06:34That's who I mean.
06:39I've taken for granted seeds that she planted.
06:45She's always behind every seed.
06:52A teacher, a seeker, a both arms outreacher.
06:58My mother, that's who I mean.
07:04Wish I could slow down the hands of time.
07:12Keep things the way they are.
07:19If she said so, I would give her the world.
07:25If I could, I would.
07:32My love and my laughter, from here ever after,
07:39Is all that she says that she needs.
07:44A friend and companion, I can always depend on my mother.
07:54That's who I mean.
07:59My mother, that's who I mean.
08:04That's who I mean.
