The Farnham Literary Festival finished on Sunday with the awarding of the BA Paris prize and the conclusion of the First Five Pages Writing Competition which attracted entries from 11 counties. Andrew Okey beat Caroline Davies and Jacqui Pack to the top prize.

00:00I'm Counsellor Bari Malumaka, Mayor of Farnham, and I'm delighted to welcome all of you here tonight.

00:08It's my pleasure to be here at the final event of the fourth annual Farnham Literary Festival.

00:14Our judges are going to read a little extract from those winning entries.

00:20And Louise is going to speak first about an entry called When I Was by Jackie Parr.

00:31Andrew Oakey, who unfortunately cannot be here, her novel is called Jacopo's Contract.

00:55It's set in Venice and it's about Jacopo Tintoretto, the famous artist.

01:02And it had the most wonderful sense of place and richness of description that bowled us all over.

01:15Just a few facts and figures actually, 11 days, 52 ticketed events.

01:21Farnham Town Council, we've organised events that have sold over 2,000 tickets.

01:27There's over 3,000 tickets sold throughout Farnham for the festival.

01:32It's just been absolutely amazing.
