Pitchers Sports Bar in Tamworth has brought music and sport to a beloved venue

00:07been open just before Christmas and how's it going here?

00:11Going brilliantly, ever so smoothly, so we get a lot more customers as we go along throughout the months.

00:17Especially with the fact of our live music that we have every Saturday night.

00:21And once a fortnight now we have an open mic night so it's bringing a lot of crowd.

00:26So it's a sports bar but it also does music as well?

00:30Correct.

00:31Because this used to be a venue before Pitchers I think and they used to have live music so it's kind of known for music isn't it?

00:37To a such, yes. You see when it was first originally stated as that was Pitchers, it started as an actual theatre.

00:44Yeah, oh okay.

00:45And then it progressed to like a sports bar then from Corey's.

00:48Yeah.

00:49And then it went from Corey's to Garden Bar I believe it's called.

00:53And since then I've been doing quite a lot of live music.

00:57Oh okay.

00:59Is there much live music in Tamworth?

01:02No, I haven't seen quite a lot of live music.

01:06So how are your Saturday nights? What kind of bands have you got on?

01:11All kinds, you've got your alternative, you've got your tribute bands as well.

01:17Not long ago it was Oasis with a double I instead.

01:20They were ever so brilliant, brought a lot of customers towards the venue and a lot of people have come back since then regarding the live band.

01:27Great, so we've just had a meal.

01:29Obviously now in the world of gastropubs and everything you've seen like 18, 19 pound burgers and all this kind of stuff,

01:36where you've kept it simple and cheap really.

01:40Yes, three small fries for the nice...

01:43So main course, sausages and mash, tenner, but your burgers are popular I understand.

01:48Yes, our cheese and bacon smash and the chilli smash.

01:52There are two big salads in the burgers section.

01:55Great stuff, and what's the most popular sport?

01:59Because we've got football, rugby.

02:02At the moment we've got a few little popular ones.

02:04Mostly it's with football, Premier League.

02:08A lot of Premier League games come up and a lot of people come and quest it.

02:12We've got three TVs, so we've got three Skyboxes that we can match up to different matches.

02:18We'll be able to get whatever match they want at the time.

02:21If they want a different sport, e.g. the rugby that's going on at the moment, we can put that on as well.

02:25And what are your opening hours then?

02:27From Monday to Friday we are open from 12 to 10.

02:34On the weekends, on Saturday, we are open from 11 in the morning until 1 in the morning.

02:41And on Sundays?

02:43On Sundays, we are open from 12 at midday until about 9 or 10.

03:02It's going well, going ever so smoothly and we're getting a lot of customers, a lot of smiles.
