00:00Ten years ago, a mysterious catastrophe left a city in ruin.

00:11Now the sole survivor may have to stop it from happening again.

00:16Fate Stay Night.

00:22At destined intervals throughout history, a war is fought between seven masters of sorcery

00:28with access to an ancient grail.

00:31The victor is granted one wish.

00:37A world away from this supernatural conflict is high school student Shiro Emiya.

00:46He never had what it took to be a great sorcerer like his adoptive father.

00:51In spite of this, he continues to secretly tinker with his magic,

00:55mostly using it to help out his friends.

01:02But when he accidentally witnesses a battle between two rivals in the Grail War,

01:07he becomes embroiled in the conflict.

01:12His life is in jeopardy when an ironclad girl materializes out of nowhere to defend him.

01:19Her name is Saber, one of seven heroes from past ages called Servants,

01:24summoned to help their masters in this battle.

01:29She has been assigned to Shiro.

01:31But since Servants draw their energy from their masters' magical powers,

01:35Saber will have to work twice as hard to make up for Shiro's weakness.

01:50Saber is certainly up to the task,

01:52but she will need to get Shiro in the right mindset if they hope to defeat the stiff competition.

01:59Since the fighting is done by the Servants, Shiro accepts his role,

02:03assuming he will be safe from harm and in no position to harm others.

02:11He soon learns that his role is not nearly so simple.

02:16Shiro promised his adoptive father before he died that he would follow a path of virtue.

02:22And he promised himself when he entered the Grail War

02:25that he would do whatever it took to prevent another disaster like the one that claimed his family.

02:32Now, keeping both his promises is the toughest challenge he faces.

02:39The only way to stop another catastrophe may be to bloody his own hands.
