00:00You know, I've had an incredible run in that organization, and I'm extremely proud.

00:08Just how things went there.

00:13Sorry.

00:16So yeah, it was very disappointing that things didn't get done, just because, obviously,

00:23I love the organization, I wanted to stay there.

00:25But at the end of the day, I also know that business is business, and every player has

00:29a shelf life, and regardless if that's when we want it to be or not, sometimes there's

00:35things that are out of our control that dictate situations.

00:38If we were in the playoffs at the point in time, we'd probably be having a much different

00:42conversation, and I know that.

00:44And the one thing that I always respect, I told Cam and Sweens this, is they have a job

00:49to do, and they have to make the best decisions for the team.

00:52And I completely understand where the decisions need to be made.

00:57I believe Sweens is one of, if not the best general managers in the league.

01:00I've watched him for a very long time excel at his job, and for those who are in the organization,

01:09and know the effort that he puts in every day, and how hard he works, no one would question

01:16where his loyalty lies.

01:18Firstly, class act.

01:20I think everything that he said there was politically correct, and whether or not, I

01:23know Wiggy had this yesterday with him taking out what he said in the Globe, he doesn't

01:27feel that way.

01:28That was Wiggy's take.

01:29I think that the way in which, that was classy, the way in which he just handled that.

01:33Secondly, there was no issue between Brad Marchand and any of these players.

01:36I think Brad Marchand felt like he had reached a part of his career where it was understood

01:41that he wanted to finish it out here, and he had earned that respect from the front

01:45office.

01:46The fact that he had to ask, and this was Elliott Friedman's reporting, for a face-to-face,

01:51the fact that he didn't get that without asking for it, and then asking for a compromise

01:55and saying, I will compromise if you guys can also compromise towards me.

01:59I think Brad Marchand said, I'm the captain of this team, I've spent my entire career

02:02here, and I want to end here.
