00:00The Election Commission on Friday announced that the Iyer-Kuning by-election will be held

00:06on April 26.

00:09Commission Chairman Datuk Sri Ramlan Harun said nomination day and early voting had been

00:13set for April 12 and April 22, respectively.

00:17He said the dates and details of the by-election were decided in a meeting on Friday.

00:23He said the candidates will have 14 days to campaign, and the deadlines for registration

00:28of postal ballots are March 20 for Malaysians living overseas and agencies, and April 9

00:35for police, army, election commission and media personnel.

00:39He said the nomination and vote tallying processes will be held at Dewan Merdeka Tapa.

00:46He said there will be a total of 21 polling stations with 601 personnel and an allocation

00:52of RM 2.5 million for the by-election.

00:56There are 31,897 registered voters in the Iyer-Kuning State Constituency.

01:03The by-election will be held following the passing of Assemblyman Issam Shahroddin, who

01:08collapsed while participating in a friendly football tournament in Penang.

01:12The 58-year-old UMNO politician died at Penang Hospital on February 22.

01:19In the 2022 general election, Issam won by a 2,213 majority in a five-cornered fight.
