27-year-old Indian student killed by robbers in US

A Telangana student was tragically killed in a Milwaukee robbery. He was studying in the US.

00:00News coming in from the United States of America, a 27-year-old student from Telangana who was

00:06working at a store has been shot dead.

00:09The incident took place when robbers opened fire at a store where the student used to

00:13work part-time.

00:14The incident is coming in from the United States' Mulwarki region.

00:20The victim, Gampa Praveen, had gone to the United States for higher studies and was pursuing

00:25his second year of MS.

00:27He was also working part-time at a store in Mulwarki.

00:33My colleague Shashank Mattu is now joining us on the story.

00:35Shashank, very sad news coming in for the family.

00:38This would have been a shock.

00:40It's the dream of not just a person, but in India, the entire family that people go to

00:44the United States of America.

00:46This is a shocking news which has now come to the 4-year-old, 27-year-old student, lost

00:50his life because of firing that took place.

00:53No, you're absolutely right.

00:55I think this is news that never gets any easier despite the fact that we have over the years

01:00seen several incidents of attacks on Indians, especially Indian students living in the United

01:06States.

01:07What we heard, of course, is that he was studying at Mulwarki in Wisconsin.

01:12He'd gone there to study for his MS degree and he was working also at a store and he

01:17was shot dead, unfortunately.

01:19So at this point in time, these details are still coming out.

01:24We know that Indian authorities and consulates in the United States, given that we have a

01:28strong diplomatic network, they are also going to be looking into the death of Gampapraveen

01:32and looking at how exactly this happened and making sure that they are contacting both

01:36the American authorities as well as the family of the deceased here back in India to make

01:41sure that there is some sort of a resolution that can be reached, that the family is given

01:46information in a timely fashion and that law enforcement authorities investigate the case

01:50vigorously.
