Kluang Islamic school engulfed in early morning fire

More than two-thirds of a tahfiz (Islamic school) at Kampung Chokro in Simpang Renggam here was razed in an early morning fire on Thursday (March 6).  Fortunately, all 12 students and their teacher managed to escape unharmed before firefighters arrived at the scene. 00:16Renggam Fire Station Chief Mohamad Nizar Makmun said

00:20firefighters from Renggam, Ayer Hitam and the Simpang Renggam Volunteer Fire Brigade

00:26were dispatched after receiving an emergency call at 1.21am.

00:31He said by the time they arrived at 1.40am,

00:35the fire had already engulfed much of the single-storey building.

00:39The flames were brought under control by 2.27am,

00:43and the operation ended at 3.07am.

00:47Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the total losses.
