00:48In order to oppose the city update law, the R.E.D.I.N. even brought in the Palestinians.

00:53The leader of the Yixing Group, Hafiz, issued a statement last night saying

00:57that if the city update law is passed,

01:00they are worried that the situation of the Palestinians being expelled will reoccur in Myanmar.

01:05Malaysians will face the risk of losing all their land rights.

01:09He also described it as a kind of modern colonialism.

01:12Hafiz continued to say that the Yixing Group is ready to launch a large-scale rally

01:16and called on the Malaysian Muslim community to unite and stand up for the rally

01:20to show their determination to firmly oppose the city update law.

01:23So in the face of the R.E.D.I.N.'s strong criticism,

01:25this city update law is a variable

01:28to drive the poor Malaysians and poor Indians out of the city.

01:33Prime Minister Anwar also personally escorted the bill in Congress yesterday.

01:36He assured that this bill will not deprive anyone of their land or property.

01:40The government has no right to expel any owners.

01:44Anwar emphasized that this bill will not change the ethnic structure of the residential area.

01:48If the original 70% of the owners are Malaysians, they will remain unchanged.

01:52He also revealed that the city update law is not a new agenda of the united government.

01:56It was designed in early 2012 and has been consulted 74 times.

02:02So it is not a hasty legislation.

02:05Because of the city update law, one of the regulations includes reducing the threshold for owner's consent.

02:10For example, over 30 years of construction, only 75% of the owners agree.

02:15The government can start a new plan.

02:18Therefore, the first party claims that this will violate private property rights.

02:22It is fair to ask for the consent of 100% of the owners.

02:27Anwar explained in Congress yesterday that

02:29if there is an old, damp and broken house in the center of the city,

02:3499% of the owners agree to renovate it.

02:37Only one person opposes.

02:39Should we sacrifice a project that 99% of the owners agree to just for one person?

02:45This is what the Prime Minister said.

02:47As the main advocate of the city update law,

02:51the Minister of Housing, Nick Min,

02:52called on all parties not to hype the topic of the city update law.

02:58The country now needs constructive politics, not destructive politics.

03:03Nick Min said that this bill is very important.

03:05It is for the future of the country and the people.

03:07Especially, our country will celebrate its 70th anniversary of independence in 2027.
