00:00ChED will add additional funds for scholarship programs under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.

00:07Roy Lomota of the Philippine Information Agency, Negros Oriental, has news for the country.

00:15The Commission on Higher Education will add 2 billion pesos to this year's budget for scholarship programs.

00:24ChED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for approving the 2025 General Appropriations Act

00:34where the agency received an additional 2.2 billion pesos budget.

00:39We got an additional augmentation, I think of about 2.2 billion.

00:43The budget we received is basically for scholarships.

00:48You know, ChED is helping a lot through tertiary education subsidy and help.

00:54And every time the number increases, the budget needs to increase because it's continuing.

01:00The education sector received the biggest fund in 2025, which is 1.6 trillion pesos.

01:08ChED received 33.3 trillion pesos fund for programs and other activities of the agency.

01:16This is a big support for the strengthening of tertiary education in the country.

01:21Meanwhile, De Vera led the opening of ChED in the Negros Island region located inside Negros Oriental State University.

01:31This will bring closer to the people, especially to the students, the services of the agency.
