00:02The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards was a night full of celebration,

00:06laughs, and surprises.

00:08Timothee Chalamet was visibly shocked as he won Outstanding Performance by a Male

00:11Actor in a Leading Role for A Complete Unknown.

00:13He told the audience it was the honor of a lifetime to portray Bob Dylan,

00:17and said that he was in pursuit of greatness in his craft.

00:20I want to be one of the greats. I'm inspired by the greats. I'm inspired by the greats here

00:23tonight. I'm as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by

00:29Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there.

00:31Demi Moore took home the award for Female Actor in a Leading Role for The Substance,

00:35and she emotionally reflected on her start in the industry,

00:38and everyone who helped her on her journey.

00:40That little girl, that little girl who didn't believe in herself,

00:49there's just the words are kind of beyond me, so I'm just going to have to just say thank you.

00:55Best Cast in a Motion Picture went to Conclave,

00:57while Kieran Culkin and Zoe Saldana scored wins in the supporting role categories.

01:01Kieran peppered his speech with his signature humor,

01:04going on a hilarious tangent about how his award was heavy to hold.

01:07It is funny that the heaviest of all awards is the one that's given by actors.

01:11It's like, you know, us, what we do means so much.

01:18When Zoe accepted her award, she shared her gratitude for SAG-AFTRA,

01:22and wove in issues important to her and to her film, Amelia Perez.

01:25I am proud to be a part of a union that allows me to be who I am,

01:30and I've never been questioned about where I come from,

01:33and judged by how I speak, or what my pronouns are.

01:38I believe that everybody has the right to be who they are,

01:41and Amelia Perez is about truth, and it is about love.

01:44When it came to television, Shogun came out on top in the drama categories,

01:48with Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai taking home outstanding performance

01:51by a male actor and a female actor, respectively,

01:54and the whole cast winning Best Ensemble.

01:56Hiroyuki thanked FX for supporting the Japanese-language series.

02:06Best Ensemble in a comedy series went to Only Murders in the Building,

02:09which took Selena Gomez by surprise.

02:11She accepted the award without her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short by her side,

02:15and joked about the reason for their absence.

02:17Marty and Steve aren't here because, you know, they don't really care.

02:21But I...

02:22Steve and Martin actually had a comedy tour date on the day of the SAG Awards,

02:26but they had to postpone it after Martin came down with COVID.

02:29The topic of COVID came up earlier in the show,

02:31when Jamie Lee Curtis presented Colin Farrell an award

02:34for his titular performance in The Penguin.

02:36Goes to the man who gave me COVID at the Golden Globes, Colin Farrell.

02:41Guilty as charged.

02:44But Brendan Gleeson f***ing gave it to me, so I was just spreading the love.

02:49Jane Fonda took home the night's Lifetime Achievement Award

02:52and made it clear that even after decades of success, her drive is stronger than ever.

02:56Your enthusiasm makes this seem,

02:58I don't know, less like a late twilight of my life and more like a go-girl kick-ass,

03:05which is good because I'm not done.

03:07She also took the opportunity to speak out about the current political climate

03:10and her take on wokeness.

03:12Make no mistake, empathy is not weak or woke.

03:16And by the way, woke just means you give a damn about other people.

03:19The Night was hosted by Kristen Bell, who opened the show with a musical monologue

03:23that surprised the attendees with glimpses of their first on-screen acting roles.

03:27Throughout the show, she had funny bits reuniting with her colleagues of past and present,

03:31including Nobody Wants This' Adam Brody,

03:33and Forgetting Sarah Marshall's Jason Segel,

03:35and The Good Place's Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper,

03:38who hilariously fought over who was her favorite co-star, Challenger style.

03:44Throughout the award show, there were some slight technical hiccups,

03:47but the stars didn't miss a beat.

03:48When one audio error could be heard, Jane Fonda quickly made the audience laugh.
