Blackpool boss reflects on Seasiders first home win since September

Steve Bruce shares his thoughts on Blackpool's first home win in 147 games, and reacts to Ashley Fletcher's red card.

00:00There's a lot of clubs in the same situation you know it's football is a crazy game sometimes you

00:05can overthink it. Today we had a change of shape a little bit we thought we'd give them a new toy

00:11instead with the shape that we finished with and it worked for 20 minutes before we know it we have

00:16to make another change because we're down to 20 men so I'm delighted for the supporters I've seen

00:22them shouting and ball enjoy that team show a pair of balls which they did do and immensely and I

00:27think the tackles that went in and the crowd the way they were from the minute we got a red card

00:33I knew we weren't going to get beat because of the reaction of the crowd they realized there

00:38was an unjust decision but they got right behind the team and they were terrific. Does today have

00:43to be a catalyst to give yourself something to fight for? Well look we've got to we've got to

00:47we know we've got to put some run together but I've just seen the results today you wouldn't

00:51have guessed half of them which is this division it goes up and down we're capable I think we've

00:57only lost 1 in 16 which yes we've drew too many but shows a level of consistency that

01:03this mob don't like getting beat which I'm pleased about. I think you've already knocked three points

01:08off from the gap between yourselves and the playoffs so it's about keep chipping away at

01:11that every week. Keep chipping away can we go on a run can we win can we put back to back again we've

01:16got a big game next week at Stockport who turned us over at the start of the season they've had a

01:22poor result today all to play for. You mentioned the change of system with that base pure and what

01:27you saw in second half against Mansfield I thought this is time to give this a go. I thought I'd have

01:31to reward the lads who come on and turned us round and they've played their part again today

01:37which I was obviously pleased about. Yeah we spoke about Hayden Coulson last week but once again

01:41you know left wing back just seems to be making the most of this opportunity he's got again.

01:45The thing with Hayden he's just got to stay well and stay fit you know he always seems to

01:48be outside the team because he always seems to be picking up a niggle or whatever he picks up

01:54you know so I know he's from Middlesbrough but he's not made of stern stuff no one again

02:00you know he's only like this he's nine and a half stone dripping wet isn't he so

02:04physically physically it's a big demand for him constantly the way his physique is but he's a

02:09very very talented footballer I have to tell you. He took CJ off at halftime that's purely tactical?

02:14Purely tactical yeah. Obviously when Fletcher were a card did he say anything to you on his way off?

02:18Well he's had it with Fletch he's as shocked as anybody you know and as I said they were

02:23they were grappling for a long ball they fell on the floor there's not much in anything at

02:28all in fact if anything their guy hits Fletch on the head first to be fair their guy starts

02:34roaming around like we could do without but he has to live with himself I suppose.
