Trump claims Musk's companies will not benefit as DOGE guts agencies investigating them

The X owner and Tesla CEO said he has never asked for personal favours from the president, and both men claimed he would avoid conflicts of interest.

00:00U.S. President Donald Trump appeared on his first joint TV interview with Elon Musk, aired

00:05in primetime on Fox News Channel.

00:08In this pre-recorded interview, the president reiterated his goals to bring down inflation

00:14and claimed that Musk's Department of Government Efficiency would find over $1 trillion of

00:19what the administration considers wasteful government spending.

00:23However, since Musk himself is a businessman, heavily involved in several sectors, the main

00:29question was, how will it work when there is a conflict of interest?

00:56Trump mentioned during that same interview that Musk is probably not happy with things

01:00like tax breaks for electric vehicles likely not being included in tax legislation, which

01:05is now being discussed in Congress.

01:08But he said Musk didn't seek any special treatment for Tesla.

01:11Musk has drawn criticism from Democrats in Congress and others for the methods he and

01:16his team at DOJ are using to cut spending, including foreign aid and eliminating jobs

01:21across federal administrations.
