00:00Before the election in May, the Commission on Elections will make a decision on the petition disqualification against some candidates.

00:14Sandra Aguinaldo has the news.

00:20The Commission on Elections promised that they will finish all the disqualification petitions that were submitted to them before the election in May 12.

00:27This includes the petition to disqualify five of Tulfo's relatives who ran in the election in 2025,

00:34ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Erwin Tulfo, ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Jocelyn Tulfo,

00:41Quezon City 2nd District Representative Ralph Tulfo, Partylist nominee Wanda Tulfo-Teo, and Senatorial Candidate Ben Tulfo.

00:50In the petition submitted by the retired AFP General, Atty. Virgilio Garcia, two grounds were laid.

00:58In particular, Section 26, Article 2 of the 1987 Constitution prohibits political dynasties based on the definition set by the law.

01:09But there is no law that sets the definition, which was proposed by Congressman Erwin Tulfo.

01:15There needs to be a law. Unfortunately, the Congress and the Senate are not moving yet.

01:21There needs to be a defining law, enabling law. Otherwise, where will we start?

01:27Ben Tulfo's answer is almost the same, even though he's against political dynasties.

01:33As long as there's no clear law, enabling law, who will implement it?

01:38It was also questioned in the petition if Tulfos are natural-born Filipinos, which is a requirement for running Senators and Congressmen.

01:46The petitioner said that they have lived in America for a long time, so they should look for proof that their Filipino citizenship is not lost.

01:54At the time of the petition, Congressman Erwin Tulfo was not present as the DSWD Secretary on the question of his citizenship.

02:04According to the party list that nominated former Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo, the Tulfo family has not violated any law.

02:12According to their positions, Rep. Jocelyn and Ralph Tulfo are possibly politically motivated.

02:19Ralph Tulfo said that the petitioner, Garcia, is a second district representative of Quezon City.

02:27According to the party list, the name of the Tulfos in the ballot will remain.

02:31But even if they are able to make a decision, they can appeal it to the Supreme Court, so it's possible that they will reach an election.

02:39If their case is not decided on time, and if they are loved, or if they have a proclamation and an assumption,

02:52we cannot do anything if the case is not dismissed because the jurisdiction will be lost.

02:58The jurisdiction will go to the Senate Electoral Tribunal if the opposition is a senator,

03:05and the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal if the opposition is a congressman.
