Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were the hot topic of conversation among guests at 'Saturday Night Live's 50th-anniversary show and after-party — and it all had to do with the couple's ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni ... TMZ has learned.

00:00There has been a considerable amount of blowback, uh, with respect to the appearances of Blake

00:07Lively and Ryan Reynolds at the SNL 50th, uh, year reunion.

00:12And I think not just that they appeared there, but were involved in the show in a way where

00:17it seemed to be poked, not seemed to be, they were poking fun fully at this whole battle

00:22between Blake and Justin Valdoni.

00:24Did not go over in a hilarious way.

00:27Uh, with, um, someone connected to Justin, uh, who you will hear from in just a moment,

00:32but also that night from people in the room.

00:35Um, we've spoken to several people who attended, uh, the, the special and then attended the

00:40parties afterward.

00:41And they just, the words that we heard were they were confused, um, as to why they would

00:47be there and involved in this way.

00:49Go back to that picture real quick.

00:51Uh huh.

00:52It's really interesting.

00:53A lot of them are just not looking at him at all, even though he's standing and talking.

00:58That's really interesting.

00:59Uh huh.

01:00And nobody's amused.

01:01It seems.

01:02Um, yeah.

01:03I mean, they just thought it was puzzling, uh, that they would be out, uh, considering

01:07all the things that have been said, uh, in this war between Blake and Justin.

01:12So, um, now that's not to say that they were completely, uh, ignored.

01:17We, from what we've heard, there were people who were talking to them.

01:21Paul McCartney, strangely enough, um, was hanging out with them.

01:26But, uh, there were other people who actually avoided them, is what we heard.

01:29Yeah.

01:30That were just, didn't want to get into conversation with them.

01:32Well, you can, you can understand it.

01:34They're sort of radioactive.

01:36In one breath, Blake Lively is saying she was the subject of serious sexual harassment,

01:40uh, during the filming of It Ends With Us.

01:42And now they're making light of it on SNL's 50th reunion show.

01:46So tonally, it does seem off, and I can imagine people just wanting to stay away from it.

01:49You're going to catch shrapnel if you get involved in this drama at this point.

01:53You know what?

01:54That's probably the point.

01:55Can I tell you?

01:56You don't want to catch a stray.

01:57The craziest thing about everything that's unfolding, everything that's unfolding, okay,

02:04I get the Blake Lively thing, and I know that there is a history there that people have

02:08been talking about, and the war with Justin Baldoni.

02:13But to say the word radioactive in the same sentence as Ryan Reynolds is unbelievable.

02:20It's because we were not there.

02:22That's just not where Hollywood was, um, and now.

02:26It was the opposite.

02:27Completely opposite.

02:28The most beloved, one of the most beloved actors in this town.

02:32And that's why, look, when you see people doing commercials, you know that they've checked

02:38out their popularity.

02:39Right, because normally that's something that actors don't want to do, but he knows he can

02:46do it because it's not going to affect his Q rating.

02:51Yet, now he is in the middle of this whole thing.

02:55And really was in the middle of it, it's just nobody knew it until now.

02:59But it's breathtaking the way he's been kind of balled up in this whole thing.

03:06By the way, his lawyer, Justin Baldoni's lawyer, Brian Freedman, was on Billy Bush's

03:12podcast yesterday, and he had some choice words about Ryan Reynolds' choice words.

03:20What did you think when you saw, you know, Ryan, you know, make light of the situation,

03:25I guess, try to find some humor in all this?

03:29I, you know, I'm unaware of of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed.

03:41And has made jokes about that type of situation.

03:47Yeah, yeah.

03:50I can't think of anyone who's done anything like that.

03:55And so it, it surprised me.

04:00So I got to tell you, all I'm thinking in my head is one word, deposition, because when

04:07Ryan Reynolds sits for a deposition, if it gets that far.

04:10Tell us about when you went in for the meeting and going over the script with SNL.

04:14Well, what I'm thinking is, what I'm thinking is what Brian Freedman is going to say is,

04:19so you are upset that you say your wife was harassed, and he's going to say yes.

04:25And he's going to say, yet you kind of made a joke of it, or made a joke of it, that's

04:30what he'll say.

04:31Well, more than asking Ryan, he's going to put that question to Blake, because she's

04:34sitting there, she's party to it, and reacting to the lines.

04:39You're going to do it with both, but you're going to do it with Ryan.

04:41Right.

04:42You're going to do it with both.

04:43But my point is, you say it to Blake, you say you were so upset.

04:47You cosigned on it.

04:48So it's like, these things bite you in the ass sometimes.

04:52Right.

04:53It's sort of like, when there's a case going on, we always say that you don't hear the

04:56people speak out about it at all.

04:58This happened with Alec Baldwin during his case, and he sat and did a big interview,

05:02and we're like, that was really puzzling.

05:04This is why people generally zip up when they're in the middle of something like this.
