00:00Today is the first step of a long and difficult journey, but an important one.

00:04And President Trump is committed to bringing an end to this conflict,

00:07as he said when he campaigned for president.

00:09And he wants it to end in a way that's fair.

00:11He wants it to end in a way that's sustainable and enduring,

00:14not that leads to another conflict in two to three years.

00:17That's not going to be easy to achieve.

00:18In order to bring an end to any conflict, there has to be concessions made by all sides.

00:22We're not going to predetermine what those are.

00:24We're certainly not going to negotiate this today or in a press conference, for that matter.

00:29And there are other parties that have sanctions.

00:31The European Union is going to have to be at the table at some point

00:34because they have sanctions as well that have been imposed.

00:37But I guess the point here is the goal is, and we agreed on what the goal is,

00:42the goal is to bring an end to this conflict in a way that's fair, enduring, sustainable,

00:46and acceptable to all parties involved.

00:49What that looks like, well, that's what the ongoing engagement is going to be all about.
