Gazans in war-torn zone struggle to return to normalcy

Palestinian business owners returned to what’s left of their once-vibrant shops in the war-torn Jabalia camp in Gaza. They struggle to make ends meet, hoping that their business will return to the good old days. 00:00The place that I am in, as you can see, I had a floor here and a floor above, and as you can see, we had 200 tables.

00:20Today, from the 200 tables, we only have this broken table. We don't have anything else.

00:26I used to have about 12 workers here. Today, I am alone in this place, because there is no work.

00:32It has become bad. People don't have money with them. People have lost their money.

00:37Askar al-Jabaliya used to be here on the streets of Paris. It was one of the biggest streets in the Gaza Strip.

00:42This Trans Square used to be a source of income for all people.

00:47It was a source of income for the people of Safdawi, Adwan, Andonisi, and Beit Hanoun.

00:58All the areas used to be on this street.

01:01Why? Because it had all the things that people wanted from the markets.

01:06Today, the Trans Street is completely abandoned.

01:09This was our bakery. There were machines and a lot of machines.

01:14The work that we do today, as you can see, everything is destroyed.

01:20This is a five-story building. We work under it.
