00:00Many among us use WhatsApp to communicate with friends, family and colleagues.

00:05Even businesses rely on WhatsApp to get in touch with their customers.

00:09On January 4th, a new notification popped up on everyone's WhatsApp

00:13telling them that its terms and policies are being updated

00:16and that they have until February 8th to accept.

00:19However, WhatsApp's new update has caused some concern over privacy.

00:23So we tackle four of the most frequently asked questions.

00:27The first major change of WhatsApp is a greater integration with Facebook.

00:31Here's the lowdown.

00:32Facebook owns WhatsApp and over the last few years

00:35has dominated the global free chat space.

00:37According to the WhatsApp policy,

00:39the information WhatsApp automatically collects from you

00:42will be shared with Facebook.

00:44This includes your mobile number

00:46and basic information you give when you create the WhatsApp account.

00:49It also collects your user activity,

00:51how often you use the app, the features,

00:53your profile photo, your status and about information.

00:57As well as device level information

00:59like what device are you using, your mobile network and your IP address.

01:07WhatsApp has reiterated in their new terms

01:09that all messages are end-to-end encrypted.

01:12This means that neither WhatsApp nor third parties

01:15will access or read your messages.

01:18We still do not allow third-party banner ads on our services.

01:22WhatsApp have said in their terms of service.

01:24They reiterated that they have no intention to introduce them.

01:31So far, there are no reported plans of payment options being added to WhatsApp,
