Trevon Diggs or DaRon Bland: Which Cowboys corner are you keeping?

In today's Cowboys News of the Evening, the GBag Nation discusses an upcoming decision the team might have to make between their two top cornerbacks. If you could only keep one of Trevon Diggs or DaRon Bland, who would you keep in Dallas and why?

00:22Cowboys have a looming decision they're going to have to make.

00:24I think I know where they might go.

00:27What's going to be very telling is, do they end up adjusting and restructuring this contract?

00:36Cowboys are going to have to make a decision soon between Trayvon Diggs or Derron Bland.

00:40Can they keep both?

00:41I don't know.

00:42If they're going to try and keep Derron Bland, they need to be talking to his agent now and

00:45try and get an extension done.

00:48But Diggs is entering the second year of his five-year $97 million deal he signed in 2023.

00:53So I was thinking, well, the Cowboys are now committed to him regardless.

00:57However, that's not necessarily true, according to Rogers.

01:00The team was able to get a deal done early with him, and in the process, only a third

01:04of the deal's guaranteed.

01:06So this means the team has some early exit-escape hatches built in.

01:11This is important because Diggs just had graft surgery last month.

01:16Timetable is uncertain, but he's expected to miss off-season workouts, parts of training

01:20camp.

01:21When will he be back at full strength?

01:22We don't know.

01:24He's already paid his guaranteed money, and they haven't restructured assent, meaning

01:29it will be easy for them to get out of his contract at any point during his last few

01:34years with the team.

01:35So following this season, if they don't restructure any of Diggs' deal, which they could do this

01:41off-season – I'm kind of expecting them to do that, which means that this ends up

01:45getting screwed.

01:46But if they don't and they leave that deal alone, they then have the escape hatch that

01:52they could utilize.

01:53And if they move away from Diggs, it means moving forward with Bland as the team's

01:57new cornerback.
