00:24Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that his country won't take part in the upcoming

00:39talks between the U.S. and Russia.

00:43The two nations are expected to meet in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, where they will discuss

00:48restoring ties and negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.

00:53He said his country had not been invited to participate and has made it clear in the

00:57past that he wouldn't accept any negotiations about Ukraine that don't include his country.

01:05It comes after U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin

01:10on the phone last week.

01:12Shortly after the call, Trump had also called Zelensky, where the two reportedly spoke about

01:17opportunities to achieve peace and discuss their readiness to work together.

01:23Trump's call with Putin left European countries shocked.

01:26They had also demanded a role in peace negotiations.

01:31Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who will be attending the talks, said Europeans shouldn't

01:35be invited to the talks.

01:38I don't know what they are going to do at the negotiating table.

01:42If they are going to keep talking about some crazy ideas about freezing the conflict, and

01:53if they are going to keep talking about the continuation of the war, why would they be

02:06Zelensky traveled to the United Arab Emirates late Sunday and is later expected to travel

04:06Over the past few days, Washington has made clear its desire to broker a peace deal in

04:10Ukraine but has ruled out including Europe in the negotiations.

04:14The development has angered European leaders who say no lasting peace can be achieved without

04:19European involvement.

04:21The summit has not yet been officially confirmed, but European officials at the Munich Security

04:26Conference have hinted at it likely happening on Monday.

04:29Washington's decision to exclude Europe comes despite Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky's

04:33insistence on the involvement of Brussels.

04:36Speaking at the conference in Germany, he called for the formation of a European army.

04:41Zelensky says the days where Europe can rely on the U.S. are over, arguing that the continent

04:46must reduce its reliance on anyone but itself.

04:48As Germany is going for an early election in a few days, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and

04:57his main challengers went on TV for a live debate with the opposition leaders.
