Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Sedley, and today is Monday, February 17th.
00:06
Here are three of the biggest stories from across central Lancashire and the Fylde coast.
00:11
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a van ploughed into pedestrians,
00:17
leaving one man in a critical condition on the weekend.
00:21
At 12.50am on Sunday morning, a Ford Transit van collided with two pedestrians on Breck Road in Pulten Fylde.
00:28
A man in his 20s has suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.
00:33
The other, a man in his 40s, suffered minor injuries.
00:37
The van left the scene and an investigation is underway.
00:41
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the van was located and a 32-year-old man from Great Eccleston
00:46
was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving,
00:51
drink driving and drug driving.
00:54
He remains in custody and two more people have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
01:01
A paedophile teacher was able to work at a school in Lancashire for months whilst under investigation
01:06
for making and possessing indecent images of children.
01:10
The Holland Secondary School in Appleton was deeply shocked to learn 26-year-old Liam Taylor
01:15
had been charged with the crimes whilst working at his previous school on the Isle of Man last year.
01:20
The school says it is investigating why nothing was flagged during disclosure and barring service,
01:24
DBS checks, when Taylor was appointed to the job last summer.
01:28
He then left the school at the end of the autumn term due to health reasons.
01:32
Taylor, 26, of Hindle Street, Darwin, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of making indecent images of a child,
01:38
two counts of making prohibited images of a child and two counts of possessing images of a child.
01:44
The hearing took place at the Court of General Jail Delivery, Isle of Man,
01:49
where Taylor will return for sentencing on March 20th.
01:52
The court heard Taylor was working as a teacher on the Isle of Man,
01:55
where he abused his position of trust to obtain a number of non-indecent images of students.
02:00
He then edited the pictures using AI to make them indecent.
02:04
Police on the Isle of Man confirmed Taylor did not commit any contact offences against any of his pupils.
02:09
The Holland School in Appleton said it was horrified to learn about Taylor's crimes,
02:13
but said there was no suggestion that the disgraced teacher did anything inappropriate during his spell at the Lancashire School.
02:21
The supervisor of the Estuary Cafe in Liffen has been dismissed after being charged of arson.
02:26
The Fylde Council Licensing Panel has taken action regarding the premises licence for the estuary,
02:32
located at 65 Clifton Street, Liffen, following an application for review from Lancashire Constabulary.
02:39
At a hearing held on Friday, February 7th,
02:41
the panel considered evidence presented by PC Guy Harrison of Lancashire Constabulary
02:46
regarding concerns about the premises' designated premises supervisor and licence holder, Mr Fakul Islam.
02:53
A spokesperson for the council said,
02:55
the review application was submitted following Mr Islam being charged with criminal damage, arson and endangering a life.
03:01
After careful consideration of the evidence and representations made,
03:05
and in accordance with section 182 of the Licensing Act 2003 and the Council's Statement of Licensing Policy 2024-2029,
03:14
the panel determined that Mr Islam should be removed as the designated premises supervisor for the estuary of immediate effect.
03:22
The premises licence for the estuary remains in place,
03:25
but a new designated premises supervisor will need to be appointed before alcohol can be sold at the venue.
