00:00The first television debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris turned out to be a

00:08no contest.

00:09It was very clear from the beginning that Kamala Harris was in control of the narrative.

00:13She was completely unflustered, firm, smiling and laughing her way through the entire 90

00:20minute debate with the former president.

00:22Mr. Trump, on the other hand, sounded very defensive.

00:25He was visibly agitated and angry at several points and ended up reminding people about

00:30his dubious roles in the past, such as the Capitol Hill riots of January 6th, his views

00:36on women's reproductive rights, etc., which all have him on the back foot.

00:41Now, Kamala Harris did a smart thing because she kept baiting him, as you could see throughout

00:45the debate, on issues that really punctured Trump's ego, such as the sizes of the crowds

00:50at his rallies, something that he's quite obsessed with.

00:54But ultimately, how will this debate impact the way people will vote?

00:58That really is the big question.

01:00Now, even though a CNN poll found that a majority of those who tuned in found that Harris did

01:05much better than Trump, there are still more than 80 percent of registered voters who have

01:11told CNN that the debate does not really change their choice of who they will vote for in

01:17the November election.

01:19And it's a very tight race because just ahead of this television debate, a New York Times

01:23poll showed that there was just a one-point difference between the two candidates, with

01:28Trump narrowly in the lead.

01:30The kind of high that Kamala Harris had after Biden stepped down and in the run-up to the

01:35Democratic National Convention in late August, that high isn't there for her the way that

01:40it used to be.

01:41Will this debate change that in the long run is the big question, especially now that she

01:47has an endorsement from none other than Taylor Swift.
