Chislet Colliery Bowls Club at odd with Canterbury City Council

A historic bowls club fears it could be wiped out if a council’s plan to roll out a new skate park presses ahead.

00:06that's where we used to go to have our teas. But when it was pitched shut, it was handed over to

00:13Bridgebleen Rural District Council to maintain, which they did. It was a man with one arm that

00:21looked after all the bowling green and all the big field for the football. When Bridgebleen

00:29collapsed, it was handed over to Canterbury City Council to maintain it and look after it.

00:38So I've lived here for 75 years and I do love the bowling green, I love the bowls. I've bowled for

00:4549, I've been to the club for 49 years and I love it dearly and I don't want to see it close or have

00:53anything done to it. It's a pleasure to have a bowling green, it's a lovely game.
