UAE’s expanded power, desalinationation plant inaugurated

00:30the 1.5 billion dirham expansion project, bringing the plant's total capacity to 2,885

00:37megawatts from 2,185 megawatts.

00:41The plant currently produces 140 million imperial gallons of water daily.

00:46The expansion is comprised of two dual fuel-gas turbine generators, each with a capacity of

00:52263.5 megawatts, two waste heat recovery boilers for steam generation and a back-pressure

00:59steam turbine from Siemens with a capacity of 173 megawatts.

01:04The expansion is designed to achieve a 90% fuel efficiency.

01:12We are working in line with our strategy, and I think it's very important that we should

01:13have a backup, because as you know, sometimes we have rain and the weather is cloudy.

01:20Therefore, we cannot operate the solar, except we can operate the CSP, I mean the concentrated

01:28power plant.

01:29Therefore, you should have a backup, and that's why I think this type of efficient gas turbine

01:37you will find is very efficient, because it's 90% fuel increase in the efficiency.

01:45And then you will have no interruption, and this will help you in case of emergency, actually.

01:50This means that, I will tell you, for the future, we are planning ahead.

01:55We are delivering on time.

01:58There are spare capacity of power and water in Dubai.
