Britney Spears 'Circus' Songwriter Says Music Is Key to Biopic, Wants In

Music is going to make or break the upcoming Britney Spears biopic ... so says one of her famed songwriters, who wants to ensure the flick does her career justice.

00:00A music biopic has to be amazing in terms of the acting, but the music got to be legit.

00:09The reason why we love Ray is because the music was legit.

00:12The reason why we love, I love Bohemian Rhapsody and even the Elton movie because the music

00:17was legit.

00:19And what I am, what I do, I do music and I do it at the best level.

00:23Check the credits.

00:24So I would just want to make sure that the story they're telling, I'm sure she's gonna

00:28make sure that the story they're telling is truthful and how she wants it, but I would

00:32want to make sure that the music is as good as we remember, if not better and truthful

00:37to her life so that there's no way you can get distracted while watching the movie because

00:44all the songs suck.

00:45So what was that?

00:46Like nah, it's got to be A++.

00:48Remember I worked on the music for Burlesque with Christina Aguilera and that's now a cult

00:52classic so I know what I'm talking about here.

00:54I just feel like it's got to be top notch music for the queen of pop.

00:59That's all I'm saying.

01:00And that would be my goal and that's what I've delivered time and time again.

01:03So there's plenty of people out there that can do it, but I definitely know that if they

01:07asked me to do it, it would be A++.

01:09Definitely have to ask my permission to use the music in the movie and I will 100% say

01:15yes when they come to me because I think that her story needs to be told and I think that

01:20this song is...

01:21I'll say this.

01:23You know when you see movies about artists and they don't get the clearance from songwriters

01:28and so the whole story sucks?

01:30I don't want that to be the case for I think artists whose story is so important to a lot

01:35that's changed in our business.

01:37So I will be saying yes 100% and if they ask me, they have been, but if they ask me to

01:40be a consultant, I'd be honored.

01:42I know the music business very well.

01:45I know her music very well.

01:46I've been a part of pop music for the last 15, 20 years.

01:50So it'd be my honor and I think that my goal would be to make sure that the music side

01:54of the movie is top notch.

01:56There's not too many artists that all kinds of people support.

01:59Black, white, all across the spectrum, all across the rainbow.

02:03We love Britney.

02:04You know what I'm saying?

02:05We love her.

02:06So it's a movie that I think would be, yeah, could be the biggest.

02:10When these kind of movie opportunities come around, there's always that end credit, new

02:15record that sets the whole thing off.

02:20I think people will be really excited to hear some brand new Britney Spears music, to see

02:24where she's at right now, to see a fresh release.

02:26And of course, I would definitely want to be a part of that too, because a hit record

02:31right now on Britney Spears would go just as far as Circus did.

02:34So that's also goals.
