00:00So I'm here in Dubai to perform at the Mixtape, which is a 90s show, and I believe they do

00:19it once a year.

00:20And this is the third or fourth year it's happening.

00:24And they've asked me to headline the show, which I'm very, very happy about.

00:28It's a great opportunity for me, because I love Dubai, everyone knows I love Dubai.

00:32My family know I have a very close association with Dubai, and how I've always wanted to

00:37buy some property here, which will be something I will hopefully eventually do.

00:42But to come here and perform is also very nice.

00:48I had three number ones in the 90s, and a number one album.

00:52So I think success-wise, yes, but some of the albums I did later sold more, they just

01:01weren't number one.

01:02But they actually sold more than the one that was number one.

01:06So in a way, I can understand them saying in the 90s why they would invite me, which

01:11I really appreciate.

01:12But then again, in England, I do a lot of TV as well, so there's all different things

01:18that I get to do.

01:23When I noticed that the music wasn't selling as much, instead of becoming upset and depressed,

01:33I took other opportunities.

01:35Now, because of those opportunities, I'm very lucky, because now I get to do all of it.

01:40I get to do music, touring, I get to do TV, I get to do calendars, perfumes, I have my

01:48own coffee business.

01:51And all of this comes from, I think, taking opportunities.

01:54You can't take everything, but there are a lot of opportunities that don't come again

02:00twice.

02:01So take them.

02:07I have spoken before about bringing my coffee to Dubai, and I really think that we should

02:15do it.

02:16I've come out here, I've met with certain people who have shops at the Dubai Mall and

02:20the Emirates Mall, and we've talked about it.

02:23But the more I think about it, the more we should do it, because now we've expanded in

02:26the UK, and we've gone into mobile.

02:30So we now do the festivals, all the big festivals, and it's a great business.

02:35And what I love about the coffee business is it's something outside the entertainment

02:39industry.

02:40So if one day people get completely bored and they don't want you anymore, then I need

02:46to have businesses outside of the entertainment industry.

02:49I love coffee.

02:56I remember hearing an interview, I saw it back, that the Beatles once did.

03:00And one of the guys said, we don't know if we're going to be here tomorrow.

03:06We don't know if we're still going to be liked tomorrow, so we want to make the most of it.

03:10And it always stuck in my mind, I thought, this is from the Beatles, the biggest group

03:14in the world.

03:15And I've always adopted that thing, that you never know how long you're going to last.

03:19Don't presume that just because you've made it, you're going to stay like that.

03:25Very quickly I started thinking, you need to have things away from that, away from the

03:30industry just in case.

03:31And that's when all these ideas came up about property and all the different things, because

03:37you have to be smart.

03:38And coffee business is something that we love as a family, so I think that was really something

03:45that was going to happen.

03:50We've worked with DreamWorks very recently, I've done a lot with Disney as well, so I

03:53just did a track for the new Mr Peabody and Sherman.

03:57My song is on that, but I would like to act in it.

04:01And I think that we've got a good relationship with DreamWorks, and we're in talks about

04:06us doing more maybe voiceovers now, soon, and then get into the acting side.

04:14I think you have to be, unless you're somebody like, this is just my opinion, but unless

04:22you're somebody like Bono from U2, or somebody like Sir Elton John, or somebody like Michael

04:27Jackson or Stevie Wonder, where music is, they are superstars with music, then unless

04:36you're them, I think it's good to take other opportunities and do different things so that

04:42you can expand and become, hopefully, good at a lot of things, rather than just one thing.

04:51I feel I have three homes.

04:54Cyprus, where my parents are from, which we're neighbours with Dubai.

05:00Australia is where I grew up, and England is where I was born and where I live, and

05:08my children are in the UK, so all three are like home to me.

05:16But I can't live anywhere else, really, but England, because that's where my children are from.

05:23Friday night is a great opportunity for people to come down who love, not just if they like

05:30you as an artist or anything like that, but we're going to entertain them.

05:35For example, we've just finished a tour in the UK with a ten-piece blues jazz band, so

05:40we did everything from Mysterious Gold Flavour, all the songs that I had, also we did some

05:46brand new songs that we've never done before, but with this band, and then we did Sir Duke

05:51by Stevie Wonder, Happy by Pharrell, Shaky Body Down by The Jacksons, and with the band

05:57it sounds incredible.

05:58So what we've done is we've put together a little compilation of things that we can do

06:02for Friday night.

06:04Some originals, some covers, but expect anything from one of my songs, to Pharrell, to Michael

06:13Jackson, and beyond.

06:16We're going to really make it fun.

06:21Mysterious Gold is, you cannot do a show without doing that song.

06:24It's almost a sin for us not to do it, so I love performing it, and it doesn't get old

06:30because if you ever get sick of a song, you get the crowd to sing it.

06:35But with me, we do different things now.

06:37We dress different, we perform it different.

06:41Even with Mysterious Gold on the night, it's not going to be what you expect.

06:44It starts the same, but we add things to it that's really cool.
