Volunteers unite in Dubai for Ramadan charity drive

00:00Today's opportunity is basically food packing.

00:11What we've done is we've purchased all the raw materials, all the basic food items, we've

00:17contacted two charities in the UAE.

00:19One of them is called Beit Al Kheir and one is at Ihsan Charity Association.

00:24Each one of them has listed to us what they want to offer the underprivileged and needy

00:30families.

00:31We buy them and then our volunteers basically package them into the boxes that these families

00:36will receive.

00:37These boxes have everything from flour, sugar, rice, salt, cooking oil, some lentils, canned

00:46goods, milk and so on.

00:48This is an ongoing activity for HSBC.

00:51We do this every year and we already have funds allocated for the next five years as

00:57well.

00:58This specific activity allows all our staff to be able to feel that they're connected

01:03to the community.

01:04Well, I've been volunteering for a couple of years now.

01:05I do it because I feel that's a good opportunity given to us, not only as employees, but also

01:18as other contributors to the community that we're living in.

01:22Well, it's a lovely thing for the children to learn how to give back to the community

01:25and to start at a small age.

01:28Like they say, charity doesn't only begin outside, but at home as well, and I think

01:31this is a great opportunity for children to take part in the society.

01:35I'm here for a good cause.

01:36I would like to help those people out there who don't have the funds to buy all this.

01:44So we're literally helping them to achieve all this so that they lead a better life and

01:48they can remain healthy.

01:49We're doing it for a good cause.

01:50So obviously someone's going to benefit from this and it's a good thing.

01:51I feel very overwhelmed and especially that this whole event is to do with Ramadan and

01:52it's a religious event.
