The Dubai Terry Fox Run (DTFR) is organized by a volunteer committee under patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum; President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group.

00:00It's been really great.

00:22We had Dubai Festival City stepped up this year and offered us this great location.

00:26We have lots of space.

00:27We're having a great turnout this morning.

00:30Just registering everybody.

00:31Had a little bit of rain, but the sun should come down and warm us up really quickly.

00:35We expect, you know, 10 to 20,000 people, so let's go Terry Fox.

00:40Terry Fox's primary cause is oncology and cancer treatment, cancer research.

00:48The Aga Khan Health Services, it's very close to the heart of the Aga Khan Health Services

00:52and we do a lot of work ourselves on that, so we're proud to be associated.

00:56It's so wonderful to see the communities of Dubai getting together here.

00:59Almost overwhelming, how many people are here, to think that one person, Terry, started with

01:04his friend Doug Allward in Canada with a dream of trying to find a cure for cancer by raising

01:10money for cancer research and here we are today, 33 years later, in Dubai, United Arab

01:16Emirates, running for the same cause to try and find a cure for cancer research.

01:21It's overwhelming.

01:22It's surreal.

01:23I'm so proud and excited to be here today.

01:26No, I've not run the Terry Fox before, this is the first time we've come down, but worked

01:29for Alpha Team and it was part of DFC, so we thought we ought to, so, and it's obviously

01:34a good cause.

01:35I usually run in marathons, but this is my first Terry Fox run, yeah.

01:40I think it's a really good thing to do in respect of cancer.

01:44I'm here because I've done this before and I think it's really nice, it gives me hope

01:48in humanity because it's for such a good cause.

01:51We need to help, so that's why we're here.

01:54It's a very worthy cause.

01:55I've been participating in this for the last 17, 18 years and it's amazing how the community

01:59turns up to support this so important cause.

02:02I have people in the family that are suffering from cancer and I'm here to support them.

02:08People who've had cancer, obviously cancer touches many people's lives and it's a great

02:13cause and we just want to be part of it.

02:24I'm here because I've done this before and I think it's really nice, it gives me hope.
