00:09In an exclusive interview with FMT at the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Minister's

00:14retreat in Langkawi, Mohammad, also known as Thutmat, urged Myanmar's military government

00:19to immediately cease all violence against its people.

00:24He said that while ASEAN may not have coercive measures, it can insist on aid reaching those

00:28in need, and even withdraw assistance if necessary.

00:33Myanmar has been in conflict since February 1, 2021, when a military coup ousted the National

00:39League for Democracy-led government, sparking mass protests and violent crackdowns.

00:45Opposition forces, including the National Unity Government and the People's Defense

00:49Force, continue to resist the junta, known as the State Administration Council.

00:56Thutmat proposed Myanmar adopt a federal system like Malaysia's, granting regional autonomy

01:01while maintaining national unity, also drawing parallels to both countries' ethnic diversity.

01:08He said ASEAN must coordinate all efforts to restore public order and prevent Myanmar

01:12from fragmenting.
