00:02Sports betting in Mississippi.

00:04I mean, the back and forth, yes, no, yes, no.

00:07I mean, how many times, Pat, could we go through this

00:10without getting something to pass here?

00:12I mean, I feel like we get a positive story out here

00:16that says online betting is coming.

00:18Somebody jumps in, says it's not happening,

00:20and then, you know, you come back two days later

00:22and say, hey, forget about what I talked two days ago.

00:24Are we gonna do that again here in a few days,

00:26or is this genuinely something to move forward with?

00:28Hey, don't shoot the messenger.

00:30I'm just reporting the news.

00:32You know, last week, it passed a House committee

00:34and went to the House floor,

00:36and now it's passed the House floor

00:37and is moving to the Senate.

00:39This is the same thing that happened last year.

00:41It did pass the House.

00:43It got completely, the language completely stripped

00:46in the Senate.

00:48You know, I had sources telling me that the Senate,

00:50there's a lot of work to be done in the Mississippi Senate,

00:52you know, to go online, as we've talked about,

00:55ad nauseum to your point, you know,

00:58Mississippi in-person sports betting started in 2018.

01:01So they've been trying since then to go online.

01:04Some of these casinos, the locally owned ones,

01:06are just not okay with it,

01:07and the Senate seems to be kind of listening to those

01:10more maybe than the House.

01:13This year, Casey, you're from the House,

01:15did kind of adjust some things in the bill,

01:17including, you know, upping the skins

01:20that a casino can have from one to two,

01:22but also creating a $6 million fund

01:26that some of these smaller casinos

01:27that aren't gonna partner with the DraftKings

01:29and FanDuels and the BetMGMs of the world

01:32to kind of help mitigate their losses

01:34or perceived or potential losses

01:36from not being a major player in the online industry.

01:40So we'll see, you know, there's also a credit bill,

01:43a credit stipulation in the bill that prohibits,

01:48you know, credit card funding of accounts.

01:50So that was something the Senate asked for.

01:52So there's certain things that the Senate has asked for

01:55that now is included.

01:56So we'll see if that kind of moves the needle.

01:57We'll see.

01:59But the Senate certainly has been the roadblock in the past.

02:03So we're back to where we were last year.

02:05Maybe there's a different feeling in the Senate.

02:07We'll just have to watch and pay attention and find out.
